Private's POV

It's been silent.

Way too silent.

My legs are swinging in the air as I sit on the edge of a building, watching the people pass below me.

"Miss."

I turn around, smiling even though he couldn't see from the mask.

I get up and walk towards the man, taking the envelope from his hands.

"These are the pictures of the places they've asked us to watch over, to memorise how everything works as if we were locals to those areas. That's all we have for now."

I undo the envelope and take the pictures out.

Buildings,

Parks,

Neighborhoods.

Cafe's.

Shopping Centres.

"Do you know why?" I ask and he shakes his head. I look up at him properly and frown at the bruises. "What happened?"

"My wife has been worried about me and told me to stop. I'm flying to China tomorrow to get a new start. This was what I got when I said i'm leaving."

I smile sadly.

"So this is my last time I'll be seeing you?"

He nods.

"Thank you really, for everything you've done. In return I'll get a couple people to guard your family tomorrow until your flight to make sure you're safe."

His eyes widen.

"You really don't have to."

"I do. Tell me your home address I'll make sure your family is safe."

He looks a bit hesitant but takes my phone, giving the address.

I do what I promised and smile at him.

"Hopefully this all passes over and you start new and happy in China." I bow and he also bows.

"Thank you really I-."

A gunshot was heard.

My eyes widen as I watch his body fall to his knees. "Sir, sir!"
