Chapter Three: Black Tuxedo

"Please keep in silence, at wag masiyadong galaw ng galaw. We can be a distraction, so keep everything in place. Okay?" Paalala sa'min ng Professor namin habang isa isa kaming umuupo sa mga provided na seats para sa amin.

Since we were done roaming around the hospital, by two in the afternoon, we are able to enter the operating room to have a peek on how surgeries are being done. 

Lailane sat beside me at katabi naman niya si Pia. "Grabe, hindi naman ako ooperahan, pero kinakabahan ako sa mapapanood ko." Said Lailane.

Napalingon ako sa kaniya. "First time mo 'rin ba manood?"

She shook her head. "Not really. Nang pumunta ako sa Korea, my cousin bought me to the hospital and made we watch such operation, pero mild operation lang iyon e."

"Anong operation ba 'yon?" Pia asked.

"Appendicitis. It wasn't fatal though. Bulatlat kung bulatlat, friend.""

"Nakanood na din ako,pero hindi major operation, kaya medyo nakakakaba talaga." Napailing si Pia.

"Girl, ikaw?" Kinalabit ako ni Lailane. "Nakanood ka na?"

Mabilis akong umiling. "No."

"Hindi ka kinakabahan?"

I shook my head and lied. "Not really." I answered. 

 My hands were already sweating and cold. Malamig naman ang air-con, but the reaction of my body does not correspond with the temperature around. I feel nauseous too. I have witnessed death earlier, and some creepy things awhile ago, so I just don't really feel well but I'm used to awfulness. 

Nagsalita pa si Lailane pero hindi ko na siya pinansin. I looked down, where the real operation would be held. Nagahahanda na ang mga doctors sa ibaba kasama ang mga nurse. Someone's checking the machineries, and someone's arranging the surgical instruments. May mga nag-aayos din ng bed. Everyone's busy, while waiting for the exact time.

Moments later, everything seems settled already. Bumukas ang pintuan ng operating room at isang stretcher ang ipinasok sa loob. Kusang tumahimik ang buong second floor kung nasan kami. Everyone shut their mouths and stopped talking and focused below.

"Hahahaha." Mahinang tawa ni Lailane sa gilid ko kaya napatingin ako sa kaniya nang nakakunot noo. "Look at Purple."

Out of curiosity, I looked back since we are sitting in front. Purple, my block mate was holding a small notebook, and a pen, while taking down notes, and she seems to be serious enough while doing her thing.

My lips move upward a little. Taking down notes huh?

Purple is one of my block mates who seems to hates me. Well, everyone doesn't like my attitude except my friends who's not competitive and 'bida-bida' as Purple and anyone like her in our block. Straight forward and a competitive student who likes to boss around, and monopolize opportunities if I can. that's how it is. Well, I'm being like that for a certain reason, and maybe they hate me because they can't surpass me.

Problema na nila 'yon. Tsk.

I have my oh-so-called friends though. I have acquaintances too, but I'm not that sure if who's being real around me, or they're just being close to me for a reason.

"Aral na aral hanggang dito." Bulong ni Pia.

I just looked back at the operating room, and sighed.
