CHAPTER SIX

FUNERAL

He gave me a faint smile before looking away. I felt something on my chest that made me look away too, even though he seems to hide that kind of emotion for the second time around.

I became silent than before. I was shocked and don't know what to say. I couldn't tell if he's side because he's dead...or another reason of some sort. I just felt like something is wrong. Well, of course. Something is wrong. Dying is unacceptable to others to the point that you will feel...wronged.

"I...see." I almost whispered, not finding enough words.

He chuckled and looked back at me. This time, he was smiling. Genuinely, as if he didn't show any strange emotions—or he's just not aware of having that kind of emotion earlier. "C'mon. Nagugutom na ako. Treat me food."

Bumalik ang tingin ko sa kaniya at napataas ang kilay ko. "Why would I?" I asked.

He smiled. "Because I'm pitiful?" he has this amused smile again. Like he was making me say yes by his expression.

I scoffed. "Parang hindi naman."

He held his chin and pouted. He made a puppy eye, and I swear, it gave me goosebumps. I feel disgusted. It doesn't suit him. "Please..." he pleaded.

I bit my lips hearing the word. I'm now ransacking my mind on how would I fucking feed a ghost.

"How the fuck—" I closed my eyes, I even heard him muttered the word of success beneath his sigh. I mean, do ghosts even breath? "—how the fuck am I gonna do it?"

"It's a yes?" He was like a kid, hopeful.

I glared at him not saying anything.

He chuckled. As he made himself comfortable on his seat. "I know a place where we could eat."

***

"I think that's the place." Casper pointed out a building.

I don't know how did I even get here. I mean, we. He mentioned the word funeral and he urged me to go here. There were so many arguments between us, but I just found myself driving him here. I can't count how many times I should not care of anyone's business but here I am helping someone in need. Helping a ghost.

He stayed at his funeral for the entire week, for the food, but he still has things to do, and he needs to check me out, as I'm the only person who sees him.

"You think?" I arched an eyebrow as I maneuvered my car. I sighed as I sip on my coffee float. Casper was still busy eating his burger beside me, his mouth full of his mouthful bites to the point that his cheeks humped. I drove through here, but I'm just too hungry to ignore it even though he said he will bring me in some place where there is a free food.

I bought some take outs, and Casper seem too happy about it. He is such a pig and such a thick faced ghost. It's like he didn't eat for days, yet all he did was to eat in his funeral while people are mourning for him.

"I mean, that's the place, sweetheart." I rolled my eyes upon hearing him say the word.

When I saw white balloons, I confirmed that we're in the right place. I parked my car on an empty parking space before looking back at him. He's still busy eating another mango pie, like he didn't care! Like he didn't ask me to brought him here in the first place.

Mabuti na lang at malapit na ito sa bahay. It will only take 10-15-minute drive before reaching the house.

"You dumbass." I hissed when he still didn't notice that we're already here. He's eating his food while his left hand is busy holding his coke float. I closed the engine of my car. "What now?"
