Chapter Thirty Seven: Decision

CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN 

DECISION 

Casper was just staring at me. He locked his eyes on mine, and didn't answer. He gave me a silence that gave me another batch of tears I couldn't control anymore.

"Iiwan mo rin ako... aalis ka 'rin..." I distanced myself away from him but he was too quick to pull me into a tight hug. Sobrang higpit na para bang ayaw niya akong pakawalan. He caressed my hair to calm me down for the second time, but I can't calm myself.

I want to shout at him. I want to beg, and everything I could do but just ended up in tears.

"Bakit naman kita iiwan?" he whispered after a while.

"C-casper..." aalis sana ako sa pagkakayakap niya nang pigilan niya ako, pero humigpit lang ang yakap niya sa akin.

"Shh...saglit lang, Nemesis. Kalma ka...kalma tayo pareho..." his voice sounded so soft that I ended up hugging him back.

We stayed like that for a while until we're both ready to face each other. Ako ang unang humiwalay sa yakap at mabilis na pinunasan ang mukha ko. Casper, on the other hand keep on staring at me until I was finished.

He sighed and pat my head after a while. "Ayos ka na?"

"I'm sorry..." bulong ko.

He chuckled and held my hand. "Kain ka na..." aniya na para bang walang nangyari. I nodded my head, and silently agreed on how he ignored what happened in an instant. Nagpaalam siyang may kukunin lang sa kusina kaya nagmadali akong kumain para sundan siya roon.

And for the next few days, Casper and I didn't open up about what happened until it's already a day before Christmas. Casper acted like nothing happened and remained being himself. The same cheerful, and energetic annoying Casper that loves food, yet I was the one who became distant on him.

"May emergency sa hospital, balik ako before Noche Buena..." ani Heidee at nagmamadaling inaayos ang bag niya. Knowing that I will be alone with Casper for the remaining hours, I nodded my head and went upstairs.

Isasara ko na sana ang pintuan nang may pang humarang sa pinto. I let of it before I dive into the bed and covered myself with the comforter. I heard Casper's footsteps until the room slowly turned cold. He seems to open the AC.

"Nemesis—"

"I want to sleep." I said dismissingly een though I have no plans sleeping. Nightmare had been visiting me since the day my mom called, until it became worse when I dreamt of Jayson, plus the situation and my fear for Casper.

"Nemesis—"

"Don't talk. I'm sleepy." I cut him off but I just felt the Casper tugging the comforter away from me. "Ano ba?! Putangina naman."

"Nemesis!" his voice roared around the room.

"Shut up!" I fired back. Ni hindi ko magawang matakot dahil sa inis na nararamdaman ko. I get his point ignoring what happened but it still pisses me off as he acted like he didn't care about it. Because of what he did, ignoring me felt like he's not the same persistent Casper, and he just told me that he won't leave me just to calm me down that night.

I heard his deep sigh, before I felt the side of the bed moved. "Nemesis—"

"If you don't want to leave, then shut up at least!" I raised my voice so he would listen to me.

I didn't hear any response but I felt the comforter covering me once again. I didn't react anymore and just buried my face on the pillow, hot tears forming in the side of my eyes. Narinig kong sumara ang pintuan, and I let go of my frequent sobs that made me fell asleep after hours of crying.
