CHAPTER TWELVE:

BIRTHDAY

trigger warning: self-harm

"May old phone ka 'ba?"

I stopped writing my notes when I heard Casper. I glanced at him while he's laying down on my bed. Well, he'd been doing it for a quite some time now so I just let him, as long as he's clean which is not a problem. He always stays inside my room while I go to school, spending his time, reading books, and sleeping with Eclipse. Kaya siguro gising pa siya ngayon at busy sa kung ano dahil buong araw siyang tulog at walang ginagawa.

He'd been with me for some quite time, and I'm more getting used to it that he's becoming part of my day already. A routine that I can't skip, I will wake up earlier than the usual to buy food for us, and I'll go straight to school while he'll walk his way home and before I go home, I would study at the library and I'll buy take out foods from eateries, or fast-food chains, and eat with Casper.

"Why?" I asked. I put down my pen, and massaged my temples to relax my nerves. I've been reviewing the whole day for upcoming exam tomorrow. It's our major, and it has the greatest number of units. I can't fail or even have an average grade.

He shrugged. "Nananawa na ako magbasa." He got up from his bed and closed the book he's currently reading. I'm not sure how many books he has been reading since we met, but he's just a nerd, finish a book for about hours.

"Paanong hindi ka mananawa, iyan lang ang ginagawa mo..." I scoffed.

"Wala naman kasing ibang magawa rito sa kwarto mo." He puckered his lips, maybe thinking of things he could do.

I sighed. "Don't you have any hobbies back then?" I asked. I don't actually want to ask, he might reminisce something that he could miss from his life back then, that's also the reason that I don't ask questions to him even I'm so eager to do so.

"Meron naman 'no." he laughed at my question.

I suddenly got curious. "Ano?"

"Mambabae..." He licked his lips, and looked up like he's remembering those...I can't even say it.

I reached for one of the crumpled papers I used a while ago, and throw it to him, irritated. "Nagtatanong ako nang maayos ha."

He just laughed and picked the crumpled paper. "Matagal ko nang ibinaon 'yong hobbies ko sa limot simula nang magcollege ako..." he sighed. "Busy na e, so I have to focus on priorities..."

I was silent. My curiosity suddenly died down when I heard the tone of his voice. I don't know if I'm just observant, but I sense something not right behind his words even though his reason was definite, and acceptable for a college student like me.

I know, I can relate in it, and being a college student, I have to prioritize the most important things if I want to reach my goals. I could still do them, but it's just so rare so I decided to stop for a while.

"Anywaaaay, so, may old phone ka nga?" he asked again, diverting the topic. It's more obvious of him.

"Mayroon..." It was my old Samsung phone. It's still in good condition but I chose to use iPhone since I need it more because of its specs. It's handier.

"Pahiram nalang, pa-Clash of clans." Ungot niya.

"Seriously?" My forehead turned into a knot. "Clash of Clans?" I asked. That game was more like, five years ago, and everyone played it because it became a trend, though it was a short time since Mobile Legends became a trend too—and the call of duty is also rising at the moment.
