CHAPTER FIFTEEN:
RECOGNIZE
"Ang tahimik mo ata?" Casper asked me while we're walking along the shelves inside the grocery store. After cleaning my room, I decided to go to the mall, and Casper tagged along because he wanted me to buy stuffs for him. He's willing to give some budget but I refused to. It's his sister's card that he stole back in his funeral.
"I'm thinking of the stuffs I should buy." I answered.
He stopped for a moment, but I continued pushing my cart. My parents usually give me my allowance every month, but then I don't buy my stocks because I always eat in a fast-food restaurant and I used to skip meals too. Sometimes, I'm grabbing some groceries in my auntie's house so I'm not spending much, unless it's a need.
"Pwede ito?" Casper asked, pointing a box of cereal. He can't obviously take it because by the eyes of the people, it will move without someone holding it. That's just weird.
Inirapan ko siya. "Ano ako, sugar mommy?"
"Yes, babe..." Casper winked at me.
Napaiwas na lang ako ng tingin sa kaniya bago ko kinuha ang cereal na tinuturo niya. I placed it on my cart and ignoring Casper when I suddenly remembered what happened a while ago.
His eyes...his intense eyes are really something. His eyes were calling me and I can't just refuse it right away, but the reality that I always can't have what I really want slaps me hard.
Bawal.
How ironic.
Lahat na lang.
"Ayos mukha, bhie." I heard Casper's voice. Napakurap ako at masama siyang tinignan nang pasimple.
Instead of buying groceries only for me, Casper keep on pointing what he wants, and keeps on complaining that he's always hungry unless I'm already home dahil wala akong kahit anong foods sa kwarto ko. After paying out, we went to NBS so I can buy my binder refill, and for my pens. I'm writing lot of notes, so I need various stationaries every time.
"Pwede magpabili?" he asked me like a kid.
"Ngayon ka pa nagpaalam." I answered, testing my pens while he's standing beside me, looking so bored. I wonder if he wanted to buy stuffs because he was bored, or he really wanted to buy it.
"Sige, pwede." He immediately pointed a Staedtler pencils.
"I raised my eye brows. "Anong number?"
He stilled. "Ba't mo alam?!" he pointed me, sounding surprised.
I didn't answer him so he speaks again. "2B, 4B, 6B."
"I'll just get a set, ano pa?" I walked towards the highlighter section, getting new colors for me.
Casper once again, pointed the things he wanted. He just waited for me to finish my own list of stationaries before he proceeded on his own. He even asked me to buy vellum board and a sketch pad. I had to get another push cart because of the stuffs he wanted to buy. I don't have any problem with how much he will spend because I got enough savings, and it's not that big amount.
Casper made his own way, and I just followed him silently. I can see the excitement in his eyes, and I can't help but to notice the difference.
He's pretending.
The sparkle of his eyes while pointing the art materials was different from the day I met him. He looks carefree now.
I glanced at Casper, before looking down at my cart. I unconsciously smiled.
