CHAPTER NINE:

ENOUGH

I stared at him for a moment, regaining myself...checking if I heard him right. I'm waiting for myself to process everything. I'm still a little bit sleepy, and I still want to sleep to think of it, except wanting to apologize to him. Iyon lang ang nasa isip ko. I feared about it a little.

Taking advantage of things. I'm trying to be rational here. I don't want to lose the chance.

"Nemesis, nakatulog ka ba nang dilat 'yang mata mo?" He was like a curious kid.

I blinked before my forehead turned into a knot. "Gago." I huffed.

He smiled, and the amusement showed on his face again. "Wow, nagmumura...cool."

I scoffed. "Bago?"

He leaned on me. "Ibang mura kasi naririnig ko...gabi gabi..." He licked his lips, smirking.

And if I could take sa step back, I really would! Unfortunately, I was sitting. My eyes widened upon hearing his words. Tuluyan nang nagising ang diwa ko. "P-pok pok..."

"Ouch!" he held his chest dramatically. "Harsh one, my sweet."

I rolled my eyes. "Ang dugyot, Casper."

He just laughed a bit before trying to be serious, but I just noticed that his facial expression can't be serious. Not that he looks like a joke, but his face always carries a light aura, and being serious doesn't suit him. It's like his smile was permanent on his face, and his deep dimples should be always on show. Parang hind siya pwedeng maging malungkot o magalit kahit kailan.

"But, I'm serious about what I've said earlier..." he held his chin. He squinted his eyes on me. "What are your thoughts?"

My frown became deeper. "Come again on that one." I requested. "I mean, pardon?"

"I have a proposition...bawal kang tumanggi." He pointed his fore finger on me as of threatening me.

"Kailan pa bawal tumanggi sa ganiyan?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Since you apologized."

"Come again?" I squinted my eyes.

"You're sorry right? Ito lang ang apology na tatanggapin ko."

"What is it?"

"I'll take care of you...?" He hesitated a bit that it turned out that his answer became another question.

I shook my head. Take care of me huh? What about that one? It seems so impossible. It could happen, but it wouldn't last long. No one stays...no one lasts. "How long?"

His forehead turned into a knot. He also blinked, checking if he heard me right. "What how long?"

My lips rose up. It's almost a sarcastic smile. "You told me that everything has a price. So, how long would this one last...this is just an apology, right? Not that it would last forever."

He sighed, and I was amazed. How can a ghost sigh? That's just creepy one.

He twitched his lips, forming into a small smile. A comforting and reassuring one. And even he won't say it, I just know, and it's too obvious. "As long as I'm here."

It has been so long...since I believed someone.

"Fine..."

And I agreed on that one...
