CHAPTER THIRTY

CAGE

He smiled at me reassuringly. "I don't know that much...so we have to ask Heidee..." he told me after I asked him. He doesn't look like he's hesitating to answer my question. It's just like he's waiting for me to ask...and he will answer it right away.

That's when I remember what he said before he lost his consciousness. Someone finally asked him.

I stared at him not saying anything.

Casper, what question have you been longing to hear all this time?

"Hmm?" he asked me when he noticed that I was just staring at him.

I blinked before looking away. I suddenly felt uncomfortable...and there's the familiar strange feeling inside me again when I realized what I did. "O-okay..."

"Where's is she?"

I looked at him again when I remember what Heidee said to me. My forehead ceased as our eyes met. "She said she'll tell you everything... and it's up to you if you will tell me." I stood up, and his gaze just followed my actions. "I'll call her and I'll leave you two alone to talk."

His head tilted. I moved my feet to call Heidee in the kitchen.

"Wait." He held my wrist to stop me. "I want you to hear everything yourself, would that be okay?"

Kumunot ang noo ko sa sinabi niya. I don't know if he's on his right mind to tell me that, but...this is a sensitive situation and knowing things like this should be talked privately. I experience them first hand... and all I can do was to stay behind their shadows not knowing anything because I was hesitant to ask too... but Casper, is he serious?

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I raised my eye brow.

"No..." he shook his head defensively. "Go, call her—"

"H'wag na. Nakakahiya sa inyong dalawa." Heidee suddenly entered inside her room holding a cup. She placed it on the side table beside Casper, before crossing her arms and looking at Casper as if she's examining him. I tried to get away from Casper's grip on my wrist but he just pulled me to sit down beside him.

Heidee rolled her eyes. "What an eyesore."

Casper made a peace sign with an awkward grin on his face. "Well..."

Heidee just sighed before sitting on her study chair. "Can we talk now? I'm already sleepy as it is..."

Napatingin ako kay Casper pero hinigpitan niya lang ang pagkakahawak niya sa akin na para bang ayaw niya akong paalisin. I just gave up and focus my attention to Heidee.

"What now?" I asked.

Napangiti siya sa tanong ko. "You have the guts now..." she shook her head. "Anyway, let's focus on the subject first...Do you remember the picture I sent you?" she asked me. Even Casper looked at me.

I nodded my head. "At the hospital..." I looked at Casper. "With Cianna..."

"Right! Aren't you wondering why... I was able to capture him when he's a ghost?"

"Napipicturan naman talaga ang mga multo, Heidee." Casper answered.

"But it's because they cannot control themselves." Heidee answered. "They were unconsciously doing it, and for that reason, it's taking a toll on their own... mere existence. Like you."
