CHAPTER FORTY TWO:

MOON

CASPER choked on his food upon hearing Heidee. I stopped chewing my food and looked at Heidee who seemed expecting our reaction. I tried to compose myself. "Hades?"

She nodded. "Myths are true, Nemesis." She answered before eating once again.

"Are you serious?" I asked. I know I'm a fan of fantasy books. Greek Gods amazes me every time I read something about them even though their family tree is a damn headache, but I didn't though that they could be real. This is beyond normal.

"I know you will not believe me, but just look through Casper's existence. I am serious." She answered with finalization. "You heard what you heard, and that's Hades."

Casper on the other hand keeps on clearing his throat as he choked on his food earlier. When I looked at him, he smiled assuringly before digging in his food once again as if it doesn't concern him.

Within that day, we found ourselves packing for our trip. They still wanted to celebrate the New Year's Eve. Heidee informed us that she has a small house in the province that we could possibly stay on. The next day, we're good to go. It's 30th of the month. We just brought our snacks along the way, and some food to cook for the New Year's Eve. At later afternoon, we're already in the middle of the road.

And of course, Casper didn't let Eclipse be left alone.

"Heidee, marunong kang magdrive?" Casper asked, munching a pack of chips. We're still around Manila, but Casper was eating like a damn animal who didn't for centuries.

"Hindi." Heidee said on the back seat. I looked at her in the rearview mirror while I was driving. She motioned me the paper bags I'm still hiding from Casper. Nakalimutan kong ilagay iyon sa compartment.

"Later." I said to Heidee and she rolled her eyes.

"Gaano katagal ang byahe?" Casper didn't wait for any answer and tapped on my on-board computer. He pressed some buttons on the screen until I saw a real time navigation. We're going to Cagayan, and it will take us some time to get there.

"16 hours, more or less." Heidee answered.

"Dapat nag bus na lang tayo." I heard Casper.

"Why?" I asked. I'm not sure if he was serious or just being an adventurous ghost once again.

"You will be driving for hours, honey." Casper looked at me. His cheeks bumped with the cupcake he's now eating. Damn this ghost.

"Don't you know how to drive?" Heidee asked on the backseat.

"I drive women crazy." Casper winked at me while scratching the back of his head that Heidee hit.

"We can take a rest. We'll get there safely." Sagot ko na lang nang manahimik sila.

He shook his head before eating again. Heidee was silent on the back seat, hugging her bag. She looks tired. I felt guilty looking at her. Part of me knows that Casper is her client in some way, but knowing that she was just here to help us makes me feel guilty. She has nothing to do with us, but because I don't have the capacity like she does, she's here.
