Chapter Forty Five: Suicide

CHAPTER FORTY FIVE: 

SUICIDE 

"Okay." Hades gave me a smile. A successful smile that he seems to expect of me. I didn't give him any reaction to satisfy him more. Athena and Heidee on the other hand were silent.

"What do I need to do?" I asked.

Casper's head hang low, not saying anything. He was against my decision knowing that it could harm me, but I don't see it as a reason to step back. We are here for it. We both agreed on this one. Casper might seem to be genuine in front of me, but the pain in his eyes screams that he wanted to live and do the things he used to do independently.

"Just give me a life, then I'll let his soul go." Hades answered me.

Napakunot ang noo ko sa sinabi niya. I immediately got the surface of what he's trying to say. Hindi ako nagsalita.

"Hades, this is a favor!" Heidee hissed—or should I just call her Hermia. That's her real name anyway.

"I can't destroy the order because of a mere favor," ngumisi ito sa akin. "Everything has a price."

"You have the audacity to say that, knowing—"

"You ran away in our kingdom just because—"

"I'm paying the price right now—"

Hades chuckled. "That's right. Everything has a price, and for all I know, I will pay the price too. That's the order of balance..." tumingin ito sa akin. "Do you get me, lady?"

I just keep looking at him, not saying anything.

"You get what you have to do, am I right?"

Napalunok ako. "In order for Casper to live, someone has to die... someone has to take over Casper's place in the underworld."

"Perfect." Hades smiled at me.

"Until when?" I asked.

Napahalakhak siya. "When do you plan to kill yourself?"

Nanlaki ang mga mata ko sa sinabi niya. "H-how—"

"Hades!" Napapikit si Heidee.

Athena seemed to be irritated to she pulled Heidee in her arm, and they walked out of the room. Nagpaubaya na lang din si Heidee dahil mukhang hindi na niya kayang pigilan ang sarili niya sa naririnig. Her composed self was being shaken. I wonder if they are close enough to Athena or to Hades. They seem to know each other kahit mukhang mapatayan na sila kanina.

"This Kid's stay was until you plan to kill yourself." Tumingin ito kay Casper. "Am I right?"

Napasabunot sa buhok niya si Casper.

"You're already done with your mission, kid but you're planning to stay until then... not until you both agreed to this."

My heart ached because of what Hades said. I don't get the whole context but I understand someone. Casper's stay was connected to me—or he was here to save me from killing myself. Walang sinabing kahit ano sa akin. I didn't ask him either. Even how he died, or who killed him. I didn't. it's a sensitive topic that even I'm dying to know, I can't ask. Asking has always been my hesitations.

"Is this... going to work the way we wanted?" I asked.

He sighed. "Of course. Since Heidee asked me a favor, I won't be picky with the life that you will give me. Even it is a dying person in the hospital or some sort, as long as he or she is willing to offer his life, I'll take it. Just bring me to him, and I'll do the rest."
