Epilogue

Olly's POV

"We're running late," Nicole knocked on our bedroom door before coming in.

She was dressed in black dress pants with a matching blazer and tank top. Her skin glowed as she readjusts her heels and came from behind me as I stood in the mirror.

"Here, let me help," as her fingers laced into mine and she helped me put on Matt's military dog tags and I winced in pain as my tattoo of Matt's signature came into contact with the chains around the back of my neck..

"There," she takes a step back and I adjust my black satin dress and made sure my heels were in tack.

I looked at myself in the mirror.. I look the same, but at the same time.. I don't...

I caught Nicole messing around with her engagement ring nervously in the reflection of the mirror and I subconsciously fiddled with mine as well.

"He made all of this possible..." I looked at her in the reflection and our eyes met.

"Hell, Cindy and Mariana flew in from Tokyo together this morning.. they've been going back and forth all summer visiting each other and they went out their way to come here today because of Matt. Chiharu called off a week from med school," I shook my head with a smile.

"Because he wanted you all to be together for as long as possible... together until it was finally time to let go," she wrapped her arms around my shoulders and kissed my cheek.

My thumb stroked her hand as my thoughts drifted else where. Summer's ended and it felt like the accident happened yesterday. We did a moment of silence during graduation when Matt's name was called and a lot of students cried. Even though everyone claimed me to be the treasure of the school, I knew deep down who was really deserved that title ..

A true king.

"I'll give you a minute and I'll get jiggy junior on his leash," Nicole gave me one last squeeze and left the room.

I went back to looking at myself in the mirror imagining all of the things Matt could be saying right now..

Funny how I'm imagining it but I still can't word out what he might say.

I wiped my single tear and took a deep breath before heading out the bedroom and gathered the remaining luggage that was packed for our trip later after the funeral.

"Hey you," Nicole was carrying Jiggy Junior in her arms with the leash in her hand. The puppy squirmed trying to lick me as Nicole got closer to give me another kiss.

She took a moment and we both got lost in each other's eyes..

"It's time to say goodbye, you know he's gonna haunt you for all eternity," she softly smiled and I just couldn't help but smile back.

Maybe I did want him to haunt me, that way I know he's still with me so he can see how sorry I am and how much I love him..

I brushed my thoughts off and prepared myself for the funeral.

"It doesn't hurt as much as it did before.. but I'm ready now," I smiled brightly and Nicole was in awe.
