When we stopped to get gas I expected Ace to ask me where we going but he didn't. It was almost as if he trusted me, I mean what if I was going to sell him off to someone especially after seeing me take out that large amount of money from my safe.
I still didn't understand Ace in many ways but I was patient enough to wait, every moment with Ace I learned something new about him.
When we finally got to the tracks, Ace had on that his usual expressionless face as his eyes scanned the area.
"What are we doing here?" He asked, hands in his pockets.
"You'll see," I grabbed his wrist and led him to where Eli, Theo and Nick were standing.
"Hey guys," I said and stood beside Nick, Ace now standing beside me.
"I was starting to think you bailed on us," Eli said and took my bag from me, placing my keys in my hand.
"Never, just got caught up in my party." I said and stretched my hand for him to put on my gloves.
"Right I forgot about that, when we finish off that guy, we'll go back with you." He gestured to Anonymous who was sitting on the bonnet of his car, a blonde bimbo all over him.
Theo excused himself and dragged Eli and Nick with him so Eli just dropped my gloves in my hands and walked away.
I stretched my gloves to Ace, "help me?"
He took the gloves from me and helped me strap them on. His eyes kept darting up to my face and I felt it heating up with every second.
"So what are we doing here?" He repeated.
"I'm racing," I studied his face for any reaction but it was blank almost as if he expected my answer. "Come on," I held his wrist again and led him to where Anonymous was sitting on his car
"Hey, you ready?" I asked, arms folded.
He hoped down from his car, briefly looked at Ace then at me, "born ready."
I almost forgot how deep his voice was.
"How about we spice things up a bit?" I looked around me at the people who were already gathering around us. "If I win, you take off your hoodie and reveal your face. If you win-"
"You lay off the tracks for a whole month," he finished. Not exactly what I had in mind but I could work with that.
I looked at Eli, though I was confident I'd win but we also had to be sure we were okay with the terms before agreeing to it. Not racing for a month might be bad for Eli's gang seeing I was the best racer they had.
Eli nodded and I looked back at Anonymous, "alright." I stretched out my hand for him to shake and he did.
"Alright people let's get this show started!" Theo cheered and that was the cue for me to get into my car.
