Sienna
Cam finishes the last touches of her makeup and grabs her purse from the dresser. She pulls out her favorite nude lip gloss and carefully reapplies it, after having nervously licked it for over an hour.
I asked her what was wrong, but she waved me off and quickly changed the subject, which only made her behavior more suspicious.
Her phone buzzes with a text, and she hurries to the bed to grab it, almost stumbling on her heels.
A shy smile tugs at Cam's lips as she reads the message. Her thumbs move rapidly across the keyboard as she types a reply.
I lean in, trying to catch a glimpse of the text and who sent it, but she shuts her phone and pretends to admire her red-painted nails.
"I'm starting to get suspicious." I cross my arms over my chest and lift an eyebrow at her. Her tongue darts out to lick her lips again, smudging the lip gloss she had carefully applied just minutes ago.
"A–About what?" she stammers, her eyes darting away from mine.
Hmm, stuttering. That’s a start.
"You're hiding something from me, Camilla," I say, letting the words hang in the air. She still avoids my gaze. "For some time now, you've been glued to your phone, replying to texts and calls with that shy smile or blush on your cheeks. And I’ve come to one conclusion: you’re seeing someone."
Camilla blushes again, and this time she looks up at me, her brown curls bouncing softly against her shoulders with the motion. "Okay, fine. I'm seeing someone."
A loud squeal escapes me as I grab her shoulders and shake her gently in excitement. "Oh my god! I was right!"
"Okay… tone it down a little," Cam says, shrugging my hands off her shoulders with a playful frown. She flicks a stray strand of hair from her face and walks over to the dresser, smoothing her curls back into place.
"Shut up, bitch! Tell me who the fuck he is, right now," I say in a stern voice. She pauses what she's doing for a moment, then she pulls out her lip gloss and carefully reapplies it for the fourth time today, her eyes never meeting mine.
"Well..." She hums softly, turning to face me. "I can't tell you yet. Our relationship is still new, still delicate. I don’t want to ruin it."
"So telling me would put your relationship with this mystery person at risk?" I press a hand to my chest in mock offense, letting out an exaggerated scoff.
She smirks. "Exactly."
"Damn! I am deeply offended." I shake my head, struggling to keep the grin from spreading across my face.
"You’ll get over it." She winks at me and flips her attention to her phone, fingers tapping quickly across the screen.
"But seriously, Cam, I’m really happy for you." I pull her into a tight hug. She hugs me back, her hand patting mine gently on my back.
"Aren’t you guys done yet? What’s the hold up?" Nico storms into the room, grumbling as he straightens his black denim jacket and glances at his watch.
"Shut your mouth, Nico! We can take all the time we want, it’s just a club. And why are you in such a rush to leave?" Cam looks up from her phone, frowning at him. He just gives a casual shrug, brushing off her glare.
"I haven’t gotten laid in a while, Cam. I need a quick fuck," Nico says, grinning. "If we leave early, there’s still a chance I’ll find some beautiful women. Those sexy bitches aren’t going to fuck themselves, you know?" He winks, completely unfazed by the disgust on our faces.
