Sienna
I wrap my arms around my bent legs, resting my chin on my knees, but flinch when a sharp sting shoots through my shoulder. Carefully, I tug up the black sleeve and rub the bandaged area, feeling the dull ache beneath my fingers.
Why do I have to get shot?
With a quiet huff, I let the sleeve fall back into place and sink against the headboard. The faint scent of Blade clings to the black T-shirt, and for a moment, it makes me feel calm. I take a slow breath, letting that familiar scent surround me, then exhale in relief.
Cam’s voice fills the room as she talks about her day with Franco. Apparently, she made him sit through a romantic movie, and to her surprise, he actually teared up when it ended.
It was honestly funny, though I wasn’t really listening. I feel a little bad about it, but I just can’t seem to focus on what she’s saying.
My thoughts keep circling back to Blade. I haven’t seen him all day, and the silence is starting to weigh on me.
Cam mentioned that he had something important to handle at his hotel. When I asked what it was, she brushed me off without an answer.
Maybe it’s because of what happened two nights ago. The thought makes my chest tighten as I silently pray Blade doesn’t do something reckless.
I bite down on my bottom lip and toy with the edge of Blade’s shirt, the fabric soft between my fingers, knowing it’s not coming off anytime soon.
I miss him.
My body aches for his touch.
My heart races just thinking about his beautiful smile.
The scent on his shirt only makes it worse. It deepens the ache inside me, but I can’t bring myself to take it off.
I nod absently when Cam says something, or at least I think she does. Her lips keep moving, and she’s staring at me like she expects an answer.
"I know you didn’t hear a single word I said," Cam mutters with a huff, falling back on my bed and brushing her brown curls out of her face, which clearly needs a brush.
I snap out of my thoughts and give her an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry, Cam. I just can't help it okay? My mind seems to be consumed—"
"With a certain someone. And that someone happens to be Blade," Cam finishes for me with a teasing smile, wiggling her perfectly shaped brows.
"Shut up," I mumble, playfully smacking her arm as she bursts into laughter. "But you're right."
Cam quickly sits up on my bed, a playful twinkle lighting up her brown eyes. "I can’t really blame you, Sienna. That’s how love is at first strike."
Something flutters in my chest at the mention of the L word, and a small gasp escapes my lips. "Stop entertaining such thoughts in your mind, Camilla—whatever your middle name is—Hernandez. I don’t love Blade. I just… care about him."
“FYI, Sienna, my middle name is Eva,” Camilla says with a scowl when a grin spreads across my lips. “Don’t call me that. I despise it,” she adds quickly, as if she already knows what’s running through my head.
“Fine.” I lift my hands in surrender but hiss under my breath when a sharp pain shoots through my arm.
“Sorry,” Camilla murmurs softly, her thumbs brushing over the back of my hand. I wave her off with a small smile.
