Sienna
I let out an exasperated sigh and make a beeline for the kitchen, my footsteps heavy with irritation as I approach the fridge. I pull out a bottle of red wine and a glass, pouring myself a generous amount before bringing it to my lips, letting the deep, velvety liquid coat my tongue.
Being in the same room as Alice for more than six hours felt like a death sentence. My ears throbbed from listening to her endless gossip on the phone; the clubs she planned to visit, the list of men she claimed to have mind-blowing encounters with, the dresses on sale that she insisted were worth attention.
What unsettled me most was when she veered into explicit detail about the kind of man who could make her body tingle with satisfaction while still leaving her aching for more. I recoiled inwardly, hoping she would change the subject, but she pressed on, completely oblivious to my discomfort.
I was tempted to snatch the phone from her hands and shove it into her throat just to block out her filthy rants, but I have a heart, and I don't want to waste my energy on her when there are more important things to focus on, like figuring out how to escape.
Hoping the wine can calm my mind before I lose control, I down the last of the red and set the bottle back in the fridge. I step out of the kitchen, trying to steady myself, every nerve on edge.
"Where did you go?" Alice spits out, frowning as she crosses her arms tightly over her chest, trying to look intimidating, which somehow comes off as a little ridiculous.
"To the kitchen," I mutter, my brow furrowed in confusion as I sink back into the couch. The table in front of me is a chaotic mess of takeout boxes, all of which she ordered and somehow managed to finish.
"To do what?" she presses, her voice sharp, pacing back and forth with an exaggerated drama that makes the floor creak under her steps.
"I needed a drink," I snap, forcing calm over the anger rising in my chest. It simmers hotter when Alice stops mid-stride and leans toward me, a smirk plastered across her face, the kind that makes you want to knock it off.
"Without asking me first?" she says with a mock offended tone. I'm not sure what she's trying to do, but it looks like she wants to intimidate me. "Sienna, I don't know if you've realized, but Blade put me in charge of you. That makes me the boss. You can't just do things without checking with me first."
Is she serious right now? Just the confidence in her tone makes me suspect she's hooked up with Blade a few times before and is using it to get under my skin. It's kind of pathetic, really, trying to provoke me like that.
Even though the thought of Blade with other girls makes my stomach turn, she should know I don't care. It's not like I like him enough to feel anything about it.
With my eyes locked on hers, I rise to my feet, a matching smirk on my face. "You need to get off your high horse, Alice, because you seem to be forgetting something. I am Blade's fiancée, which means I have equal rights to everything he owns, including this property. I am his Queen, and that gives me the right to boss you around. But some things never change. Pests like you do not know their place, and I will be more than happy to show you."
I might hate being Blade's fiancée, let alone his wife, but sometimes you have to use the situation to your advantage and make sure women like Alice never cross the line.
She glares at me, her face flushed with anger, and raises her hand to slap me. "How dare you—"
"Alice." Blade's voice booms with raw fury, making her freeze and tremble as she takes a step back. We both turn to see him standing at the front door, hands clenched into tight fists, Franco and Nico right behind him, their faces mirroring his anger.
