It was weird the way she was talking to Gavin. Like I wouldn't give a fuck but it was strange accepting the fact that Gavin and Ashley were gonna be a thing.

Allan was well-fitted with the whole idea. Allan.

I can't let him drink a lot tonight. Not happening.

"He wants to drink." Allan looks at me wide-eyed as Nishi explains his motive and why he is right next to the table with the drinks.

"Oh no—" As soon as I started speaking, I felt something cold hit my face. I looked up to find clouds dangling in the sky. At first, it was only light drizzles but soon it started pouring down quite heavily.

By the time it started pouring almost everyone was inside the building. The rain fell heavy and it eventually got extremely windy.

"That's a bummer!" Someone from the staircase screamed.

"Let's take this downstairs." Someone else suggested.

"We're not going down to his apartment." Rene informed us, looking at Gabrielle as we sat there on the staircase, half wet.

"Rene—" Quin spoke only to be cut out by Rene.

"Nope! Quin, keys!" She ordered. Quin did nothing but abruptly stood up and passed a bunch of keys into Rene's hand.

We walked into a pretty apartment. I was somewhat expecting it to be messy but Quin just had books in every corner of the place.

"Jace, let's get out of here." Allan spoke from beside me.

"Where do you wanna go?" I ask.

"I don't know?"

"Alright!" I spoke.

---❁---

"Don't you dare get down!" I was assertive.

"Jesus," Allan shut the door. "I was just getting something to drink."

"You really wanna drink so bad, Allan?" I asked as we were parked in front of the food mart by the gas station.

"Sprite, Jace." He gave me a look.

"Get me one too?" I grinned. He got off the car, mumbling something under his breath.

I unlock my phone and see Cole's texts.

Y'ALL LEFT?

I see the typing bubble again.

QUINNIE GUY GOT DRINKS FROM UPSTAIRS

Why was he typing in all caps?

be back in a bit?

I texted and opened Spotify. I couldn't find anything fun to play so I waited for Allan to get back and play his songs. I've strangely gotten interested in pop music. Blame Allan, really.

"They were outa gum." He was somewhat raged. "THEY WE'RE OUTA GUM, JACE!"

He snatched the phone from my hand and vigorously scrolled. We had no clue where we were going so I was just driving around on random roads.

It was not until we were on East street that Allan finally picked a song from his endless playlist. And it was Driver's License by Olivia Rodrigo.

"Every time I listen to this, it reminds me about that guy you think my voice matches with." I tell him.

"The guy has a name. And this song was written because of him." Allan sips his Sprite as he explains. "Oli wrote this song for Joshua-the-jerk!"

"Didn't you find him cute?" I asked.

"I found him cute. He's just a jerk now for hurting Oli like this." He explained as I chuckled and then turned the volume up and started singing along. More like screaming.

The song ended and Allan played it again.

"Who broke your heart?" I joked.

"Let's break up!" He jumped in excitement. "I love this song c'mon!" I looked at him, all confused. "Even Olivia is like a Pisces so that literally fits."

Sometimes I wonder if my boyfriend is crazy. And the other times he just confirms my suspicions.

By the time I could respond to his demand, he was already distracted. "Let's stop here! This place looks cool." He said, looking outside the window.

We were parked opposite a Mexican food truck ahead of which, at a distance was a wharf.

Allan rushed out of the car and i had to practically run to catch up. How the fuck is he always so hyped?

He eased down by the end of the wharf's division where it further broke into two small opposite directions. I followed, panting. We were extremely wet, given the heavy rain.

"You're such a kid!" I let out, looking at him and laughing.

"Do not call me that, Jace Gray." A slow smile popping onto his face.

"Oh, I will." I say as I look into his eyes.

I have never been down to New Haven or Hamden, but trying to write something realistic needs a lot of research and while researching the places and the towns and the school, I slowly started imagining a life in Hamden, between these charecters.

For me to be able to do that is the whole purpose of why I started writing—to get lost into a whole different world and still be able to come back to reality.

I was going through a lot of places in New Haven. And I found pictures of the places I described in this chapter. Here is one of those pictures :

This is the wharf where the end of this chapter takes place. I will never know who these two people in the image are but I'm thankful to them for the inspiration of this particular scene.

Anyways, vote if you liked this chapter!!
