It wasn't a good time for music

It wasn't a good time for music. And I wasn't in mood either. No one was. Everyone was looking in different directions as the silence in the car was screeching out it's presence. It wasn't expected—the whole incident that went down with Nishi at the carnival. It was.. umm.. shocking. I had no reactions but then I instantly moved past it as though it was all okay.

7 HOURS EARLIER

There was something weird about Lily's presence. She made Nishi seem uncomfortable. Which is absurd as they are cousins and she is genuinely never the one to show a change in mood. But being around Lily kinda made her look nervous. But for what?

"Hey I heard Uncle Ravi is gonna stay in Ohio for another month." Lily spoke—voice strangely amazing.

Ohio? Wasn't Nishi's dad—Uncle Ravi—in Derby? Or am I mistaken?

She looked pale. Nishi looked scared from what I could make out from her reaction to what Lily said.

"Ohio?" Cole popped into the conversation. "Her dad is in Derby." Cole said as though putting out facts.

Everyone looked confused—Maddie, Lily, Cole and Jace. I could only wonder what my reaction was.

"When the hell did he go to Derby?" Lily looked at Cole and then at Nishi, eyes wide.

"After the.. umm.. accident." Jace hesitated, trying to figure out his position in this conversation.

"Bruh? What car accident?" Lily giggled in confusion.

I was terribly confused.

"He was admitted in Derby after the car accident and he is supposed to stay there because of the routine check-ups and the healing. " I spoke up. "You don't seem to know anything bout this which can either be because you don't know about it yet or it's not true." I sounded numb.

There she was—Nishi—staring at ne with tears enveloped in her eyes. "He's in Ohio."

A silent little voice came out from her mouth as her face now smudged with tears dripping and eyes closed rested downwards.

"What?" Cole's reaction was rather subtle. He was shocked. "Dude what are you talking bout?"

"There... was no accident. I made it..." she sniveled, trying to breathe. "...up. He's in... Ohio. For a w..work thing."

Everyone looked confused more than shocked and honestly it was shocking for me too but I just didn't really have such a big reaction strangely.

"What the fuck?" Maddie spoke, standing behind Lily.

There was a silence for around a minute or two and the only sounds we could hear was Nishi whimpering and the noises of the Carnival.

"Wait if there wasn't any car accident then why did you lie and make up all of this." Jace asked, surprised but not showing, just like me.

Cole walked close and hugged her as she kept sobbing through all of it. She couldn't breathe as she struggled for air and sulked heavily.

Jace grabbed my hand as he looked at me from the side. I realised tears were trickling down my eyes too for some absurd reason. Seeing her cry like this was scary, even more cus I've never seen her cry this hard.

We all stood there confused and shocked of what had just happened and wondering what was about to.

I've taken a lot of time for posting this chapter as I was really busy with exams coming up and stuff.

Hope y'all like it.
