Taylor's pov
"Alright everyone," Sam talked to the camera. He propped it up on a rock and we were all standing in front of it while he talked, "Before we get into the mines that Brent wanted to take us in, we have something to tell you,"
I did my best not to react as Colby spoke next, "As you probably know, we brought a guest with us, and let you wonder who she was until now,"
He motioned over to me with his hands, and Corey slung his arm over my shoulders as I waved at the camera, "Hey guys, I'm Taylor,"
"Yeah, she's a friend of Katrina's and we figured why not bring her with us," Sam said, trying to pre-clear any rumors of me being romantically involved with Corey or Colby seeing as they were single. Per Colby's request.
Damn it.
He clasped his hands together, and we slipped on our hoodies while Brent got our flashlights and stuff ready.
"It's literally like forty-five degrees in there," Sam said, nodding to the entrance to the mine, "It'll be like going from summer to winter,"
"Oh fantastic," I said sarcastically, pulling my hair out from inside the back of my hoodie.
"Who's going first?" Corey asked, looking around, "I wouldn't mind but I don't wanna get kidnapped by a ghost,"
"I'll go," To my surprise, it was Jake who was speaking. I think he noticed my reaction, because a quiet laugh left his lips when he met my eyes.
"Alright, that's settled then. Let's go," Colby said, taking off after his crazy friend, letting Sam handle the camera.
I stayed back with Corey, not wanting to be behind Colby because I wanted absolutely nothing to do with him.
He was doing a pretty good job of ignoring me, basically avoiding me at all costs. On a more positive note, it gave me a chance to get to know Corey better.
It seemed like he knew what was going on, and was trying to cheer me up without interfering with our problems. And I appreciated it a lot, and just for him I tried to put a smile on my face.
Except my pissy attitude made an appearance every once and a while. I couldn't help it, I didn't do anything wrong. And the person who invited me to come was the one who wasn't talking to me.
I don't understand men sometimes.
"Dude," Sam said slowly, taking the lead and looking around the small tunnel Brent was leading us through, "This reminds me of the Enchanted Forest, remember?"
He turned around to Colby, who was now in front of me, "Oh, the ritual tunnel?"
I was beyond confused with what they were talking about, "rituals" and "enchanted forest". It sounded pretty stupid to me, but it was probably just somewhere they went for another video.
"We're underneath a god dang mountain," Sam said, as if he still couldn't believe it.
"It amazes me that some people lived half of their lives down here, just beating the walls with pickaxes and hoping they find something without being blown up by their own materials," I said quietly, running my fingers over the tunnel wall.
There was a time when this was just a fresh indentation. Then, maybe just hours later it became a small tunnel, something like a day's work. The men would go home, eat a meal and visit their families if they had them before returning back here.
A never ending cycle for them.
I looked over to see Colby looking at me, something in his eyes I couldn't understand. Though we were basically in darkness, I could clearly see his blue eyes and white teeth when he opened his mouth to speak.
