Taylor's pov
It was our first official day in Cerro Gordo, wear we would be going into the mines just as Brent promised. But first, he's allowing us to feed his goats. So that's what we're doing.
"Hey," Corey sang, walking ahead of us and waving at the goats as they "baah"ed, or bleated, at us.
"Hey little goats," I said, walking in after Corey and Colby, while Sam went to grab the food for us to feed them.
I ran my hand over one of their backs, it felt like a short haired dog that lived outside it's entire life.
"They're so cute, right?" I said, standing up to my full height and looking at Colby.
"Yeah," He said, quickly turning away and going over to Sam, who was having a couple of the goats follow him around by holding the food out to them.
I didn't know how to react to him acting the way he was, and I didn't know what to think of it. Colby had been acting very standoff-ish since we all woke up this morning, hardly speaking to me and not looking me in the eye once.
I thought back to if I said something or did something wrong last night or this morning. And the only thing I could think of was if I could have possibly kneed him in the balls while I was sleeping. It seemed very unlikely that he'd be butthurt over it but I didn't have a clue as to what I did wrong.
Or there was a chance that he didn't want to appear close to me on camera. I checked out his Instagram a couple of days ago, and when he'd post with Amber or other girls there would be people who would ship them, or hate everything about the photo. So maybe he was trying to protect me.
But it hurt all the same.
I shook my head, grabbing a handful of straw from Corey and walking up to a few of the goats, stopping a good distance away and letting them walk up to me. I let the boys film their little bit for the video.
I smiled, letting out a little laugh when they were willing to follow me around just for a bit of straw.
"That one is named Soupothy," Corey said, walking up to me with three tiny creatures following him.
"Soupothy? Like Timothy?" I clarified, and he nodded, "Why?"
"Because he's gonna be soup soon," He shrugged, bending down to my level and patting Soupothy the Goat on the head.
I gasped, hitting him in the arm playfully, "Soupothy has ears, he can hear you, ya' know! And we can't call him that!"
"But you just did," Corey smiled over at me, and I returned it.
I loved how Corey could make me feel better without even trying. It was like he knew something was up, but didn't ask. He just wanted to make it better for me. And besides, I wasn't going to let some boy ruin my day.
Even if that boy was the one and only Colby Brock.
"Hey guys," Brent said, waving us out of the fence, "You guys wanna go golfing off the mountain?"
"Yes!" Sam clapped. During the time I got to know them, I realized Sam loved golfing. Kat showed me his collection of golf clubs one day while she was facetiming me.
"Let's go then!" Brent continued to wave us out, showing us what he was talking about. He placed a golf ball on the peg, hitting it off the edge.
The noise echoed through the mountains, intensifying the sound by what sounded like millions.
Jake went next, not hitting it quite as far but he was still pretty good, and he tried again and his hat flew off, but it didn't get very far when he got it back.
