Taylor's pov

"Look at this cowboy hat," Corey picked up what looked like a metal traffic cone with the top broken off.

"Put it on!" Sam encouraged, holding up the camera and recording his crazy friend.

"Dude it fits perfectly," Colby joked, seeing as his new hat covers his entire face.

"You should wear that the entire time we are in the mines," Sam suggested, glancing over at me with a funny look in his eyes. I decided to ignore it though, this day had completely turned around.

I couldn't get over how Colby asked me to be his girlfriend, and even though it's been a couple of hours since we were up watching the sunset I still got butterflies in my stomach thinking about it.

"This one fits better than that one from earlier," Corey said, turning in circles slowly, trying to pinpoint where we were.

Colby walked up to him, tapping his flashlight against the piece of metal before laughing mischeviously, "Was that loud?" He asked as Corey took it off and blinked at him.

"No, do it again," Jake answered for him, and Corey turned and looked at him.

"If I can't hear for the rest of the video, that's why," Corey grabbed the back of his head after setting down whatever that thing was, anyway.

Sam turned the camera towards Colby as we walked along, and I could help but think that the boy would look better without the hoodie and pants on. Or his shirt, for that matter.

No, ew, no gross. I could feel my cheeks burn gently at the embarrassing thought. Luckily it was dark out so nobody could see unless they shined a flashlight in my face. And that's rude to do, so I'm not that concerned.

But it doesn't matter because I shouldn't be thinking those things, not even about Colby. Even though technically he's my boyfriend now, it's only been a couple hours and either way we still haven't told anyone else.

They just think we made up, which is part of the truth I suppose.

"Look, is that a mine right there?" I asked, pointing to a hole in the side of the mountain, similar to the one of the ones we saw earlier that Brent had promised to show us.

Jake ran ahead, going up to the entrance to check, "I think so,"

I knew Colby was trying to avoid me for the sake of being on camera, but he smiled at me anyway, "Good eye," He said quietly, and though it was simply a compliment, my heart took it as something more.

Something so small, something he'd forget telling me by the end of the night, is one of the many things I'd remember here in Cerro Gordo. And I could smile at the thought, but now wasn't the time to get lost in my thoughts.

Instead of saying something much more meaningful, I shrugged, "Anyone could have seen it. We were already heading up there, I just happened to have saw it first,"

I didn't mean to sound like I was brushing his complement off, but I think that's how I sounded. And that's how he took it, I could tell. Colby blinked at the ground for a second before looking around and joking around with Corey, who had not noticed the awkward conversation.

"Do you want to tell the camera what we're doing?" Sam asked, looking over at Colby, "Or should I?"

"Oh, shit. Right," He said as if he completely forgot we came out here to film for their video. "So," Colby looked into the camera, "So, it's just us now, no more Brent,"

I didn't realize how out of breath we all were until we slowed our pace down, giving Sam time to watch where he was going while holding up the camera and get good footage of Colby.

"What time is it?" Colby asked, though it was very rhetorical seeing as he was pulling out his phone to check himself. Jake didn't notice this, however, and answered for him, "Four-twenty,"

I didn't realize he was joking until I looked at him, standing behind Sam with Corey. I giggled quietly, but Colby went unamused.

Maybe my humor is broken. Or it's just funny because that's my birthday, but that information is irrelevant.

"It's ten o'clock," Sam and Colby said nearly in unison, and they slipped their phones back into their pockets at the same time, too.

It was so funny watching them do stuff at the same time. Not necessarily knee-slapping, knock-your-socks-off funny, but an interesting kind of funny.

"We're gonna explore this mine," Colby shined his flashlight at the entrance I had found, "By ourselves,"

"So basically we're risking our lives for?" I asked, looking back and forth between my boyfriend and his best friend. Damn that was weird to think about: my boyfriend.

Guess I'm just going to have to get used to it. Not that I'm complaining.

"Cause if we find any treasure we get to keep it," Sam explained to me, while Colby looked at the other boys for a reaction.

"Exactly," Colby said, but he wasn't looking at any of us, he was looking at the mine with a look I couldn't quite describe with one word. It was as if he was excited to do something he loved yet fearful something might happen to one of his friends. Which is understandable.

We all began walking towards our destination, and I couldn't have taken five steps before I felt my hand suddenly get warm.

I looked down at it, confused as to why it looked like my hand grew a second arm. I followed it up, and though I should have guessed, it was Colby. He wasn't looking at me, treating it as if it was something normal, to hold my hand.

Even from a side view, I could still see the funny spark in his eyes. And he didn't look bad wearing a baseball hat. It was better than so many things I've seen on some of the men when I would go out with Alex.

"It's rude to stare, you know," Colby said quietly, not drawing attention from his three friends that had stopped because Corey was pissing off the cliff.

Colby stopped walking, spinning around to face me, "There's nothing else interesting to watch, though," I said with a pout before standing on my tiptoes and planting a gentle kiss on his lips.

"What?" I heard Corey ask from where he was because Colby and Sam shined their flashlights on him. He led me back over to where the other two boys were, waiting for their friend to finish his business.

Colby dropped my hand as Sam turned the camera around to face us all, and he was turning slow enough that I could step away from Colby. I was trying to do my best to not show signs of being "with" Colby on camera. It was inconvienient, but I don't want to fuck up going with the boys on trips because it's actually really fun.

"As you know, the three of us went to go talk to Brent. What sucks is right before we left we asked like: "yo, can we go explore by ourselves in a mine?" He's like "well, exploring it at night is super dangerous in the mines," Sam fills Colby and I in as Corey catches up and we make our way to the entrance.

While Sam, Corey, and Jake were getting approval to go exploring, Colby and I had been, well, distracted. By more important things, so we thought, at the time. Colby was kind of pissed that Jake came in and interrupted one of our many make-out sessions, but I personally was just happy that he came in before things got too heated.

I think Corey realizes what Sam was subtly hinting, because there was a smirk on his face that he wasn't trying to hide. Luckily, Colby didn't see it or he would've flipped shit. Like I said, he wasn't too enthused to leave one of the many rooms in the bunkhouse to go back out into the mines.

But overall I'm really happy at how this night is turning out.  I really enjoy spending time with these ridiculous boys.

Even though I'm scared shitless that we will get attacked by some animal out here, deep down I know we'll all be fine.

We have to be, right?
