Taylor's pov
"It has to be something that they're hiding from someone," I disagreed.
Things that are treasure now wouldn't be even that valuable back in the day. A cloth, piece of paper, a hat? Those were all things you could easily obtain.
Out of nowhere, Corey gasped. I turned to see what he was looking at, now that he was trying to climb out of the hole, "Bat!" He shouted back at us, continuing to scramble up the walls.
I noticed Jake was now holding the camera, but handed it to Corey when he reached for it. I followed Corey out of the hole, then Jake. Without speaking I knew that we'd be going back to the "G spot" to wait for Sam and Colby.
"Alright let's go," Corey said as Jake began walking back down the tunnel.
I shouted wordlessly as something flew past my head. I realized it was a bat and began laughing, and when I thought I was about to calm down I saw Jake's face and it sent me going again.
"I-i can't stop," I grabbed my chest as the laughing caused my stomach to ache, "I'm gonna have a heart attack,"
Corey smiled over at me, amused by my reaction while passing the camera over to Jake. We continued down the tunnel with Corey leading the way.
Surprisingly, I didn't trip on any rocks like I thought I would, being in this mine at night.
"Oh my god a bat just flew from fucking behind us," Jake shouted, and I turned to see what he was talking about. I saw something flying towards us and I ducked out of the way.
"I will cut these motherfuckers' wings off and feed them to the bobcats," I snapped, waving my fist in the direction the bats were coming from.
"Let's go this way. Maybe there won't be any more bats," Corey suggested, nodding over to a second tunnel I didn't notcie before.
"I'm down to try anything," I said without bringing it to their attention that we weren't going back to Sam and Colby right away now.
This time, the tunnel didn't go on very long before it branched off to three or four different tunnels. Jake was leading the way, whispering manically to the camera, "There's bats, there's bats. Oh my god,"
"Remember what you said about there being no bats, Corey? I'm calling bullshit," I sneered at him before poking my head out of the tunnel we were coming from. Jake was shining his flashlight up at the bats flying around, "Stop shining it at them! I don't want to get Coronavirus!"
"We're not going to eat them," Corey reassured, but went ahead and bit down on air at one of the bats anyway.
"Yeah, uh-huh" I shook my head, looking at one of the tunnels with what looked like another wood frame from earlier. "I wonder if that one has a ladder. Maybe we could surprise Sam and Colby,"
"You just want to see your boyfriend," Jake teased.
"I'm more concerned about whether or not they made it down the ladder in the first place. But that could be part of the reason," I shrugged before stepping past them. I kept my head low to avoid the bats, making my way over to see if there was in fact, a ladder.
I was right. This one was in worse condition than the other one, with two of the rungs snapped and hardly hanging on.
"Okay maybe not this one," I said over Corey and Jake's struggling cries, since they were still dealing with the bats.
"Well we're trapped now, we can't go back through those bats. We'll just get eaten," Corey pointed out, and Jake was looking at me with a weird look on his face.
