When everyone hasn't seen or heard from (Y/N) in two weeks, they get concerned. Raf figures out what's going on, which worries Smokescreen enough to want to be with her as she deals with sadness.
No one at base heard from (Y/N) in two weeks. The kids tell the Autobots that she hasn't been at school and no one is at her house.
"I know we can't tell our families about you guys, but (Y)N) would have told us if she's moving away," Jack argues.
"She'd still be going to school if she was grounded," Miko adds.
Everyone is concerned to the point Raf tries to locate (Y/N) by tracking her cell phone signal.
"Uh, guys," Raf gets everyone's attention, "(Y/N)'s phone is at a cemetery," he gets right to searching recent obituaries while everyone debates if (Y/N) showed signs of suicide. Raf has answers within minutes, "guys, there's a funeral happening in an hour. Listen to this. On (date), (grandfather's full name) died from leukemia. (Rest of the obituary)."
Everyone feels sad that (Y/N) didn't want to tell them what happened and cause them to worry about how she's doing. Smokescreen worries (Y/N) is suicidal, and that's why she's avoiding everyone. Optimus allows Smokescreen to go to the cemetery, but he's not interrupting the funeral.(Y/N) isn't sure what to think about seeing Smokescreen's alt mode parker across the street. She tells her mom she'll be home soon; she wants to be left alone. With concern, her mom agrees and goes home with the rest of the family.
"Smokescreen, what are you doing here?"
"I'm sorry, but we're worried about you. Raf figured out everything."
(Y/N) gets in Smokescreen's alt mode. Smokescreen drives to a nearby grassy hill. It's just about sunset when they sit on the hill.
"I know it's hard dealing with losing someone," Smokescreen starts, "we lost many in this war. I know you were close to your grandfather," Smokescreen accidentally makes (Y/N) cry, "we will support you," he sobs, "help you look to the future. I-I don't know what I'd do if we lost you."
By now, they are both crying. They hug and cry for a good ten minutes before deciding it's time to go home.Smokescreen is happy to be allowed to stay over. Though for how long? He isn't sure if he can get (Y/N) to return to base with him tomorrow. For now, the two watch movies together. Smokescreen knows (Y/N) will have difficulty getting to sleep and hopes watching movies will help her fall asleep.
Smokescreen didn't think about how (Y/N) would be crying in her sleep. He's happy her parents agreed to let him sleep in her room on an air mattress.
"(Y/N), wake up," Smokescreen whispers as he rubs her back.
(Y/N) wakes up and hugs him as she cries.
"It's not a dream, is it?" She sobs.
"I'm sorry, we'll help you get through this, I promise."
(Y/N) cries herself to sleep. Smokescreen struggles to get back to sleep. The next morning, (Y/N) is in a depressed mood. Smokescreen contacts Ratchet for advice as soon as (Y/N) goes back to sleep.
"Don't force her to come here," he advises, "give me a second," Smokescreen waits, watching (Y/N) sleep. Hating what she's dealing with, "you can stay with her. Remember to be patient with her."Smokescreen struggles to get (Y/N) to eat and worries her family isn't concerned. It's a struggle to get (Y/N) to do anything.
He hates how this is routine for a good week, struggling not to force her to do something. (Y/N) doesn't say much.
"Now, do we worry?" He asks (Y/N)'s mom.
"No, I know it's hard to watch, but there's nothing we can do," (Y/N)'s mom tells him.Smokescreen feels like time is ticking slow as the days go by. Even if (Y/N) is eating, it's very little, and he worries about what she's thinking. Worried he'll be told to return to base.
(Y/N) isn't sure if she wants to go back to the base or not. A mix of not feeling ready to deal with life and guilt knowing she avoided her friends for a month.
"Smokescreen, I want to go back to the base," (Y/N) tells him. He can hear sadness and guilt in her voice.
"It's ok; no one is mad at you. They're worried and will help you."
(Y/N) tells her family she needs a change of scenery and packs up to stay at the base for a while. As Smokescreen told (Y/N), everyone at the base is supportive. She stays in Smokescreen's room, though Ratchet is a little more strict than her family and makes sure she's not in the room all day. She begins to feel better but knows it'll take time.
