Smokescreen thought he was protecting (Y/N), but she is permanently injured.
None of the Autobots thought they'd find love while on Earth or fall in love with a human, but that happened to Smokescreen once he came to Earth. Smokescreen tries to let (Y/N) fight in battle but worries she'll get hurt. As the cons target the Autobots' base, Smokescreen decides (Y/N) needs to go with Bumblebee. She didn't dare argue, and Smokescreen didn't have to say he was not escaping like he was supposed to be.
"You'll thank me for not escaping," Smokescreen says as he sits under the rubble with Optimus, "I hope."
He looks at Optimus, worried about how injured he is.
"...so what? We just give up?!" Raf argues with Ratchet.
(Y/N) paying little attention. Worried about Smokescreen. When will everyone be able to regroup? Hating Ratchet is giving up.
Smokescreen is certain the human being loaded into the medical helicopter is (Y/N).
Ratchet hates what he has to tell SmokescreenSmokescreen.
"I wish I could tell you it's better for her due to our location, but....(Y/N)'s lower body was crushed under rubble, and she'll be paralyzed."
I saved Optimus, but (Y/N)...
Once Fowler finds the Autobots a new base, though it's a military base, SmokescreenSmokescreen finds a place to hide from everyone and cry. The others watch him, uncertain if he's taking (Y/N)'s injury harder than he should. Optimus informs them of Smokescreen'sSmokescreen's decision that saved him, but now SmokescreenSmokescreen feels guilty for failing to protect (Y/N).
"And if he obeyed the order, he'd blame himself for you being offline," Bulkhead believes.
It's a hard three weeks for SmokescreenSmokescreen before (Y/N) can go to the base.
Smokescreen cries seeing the human he loves in a wheelchair.
"It's ok, Smokescreen," (Y/N) smiles, "I'm not giving up. I don't think Ratchet can build a wheelchair to allow me in battle, but I will help the Autobots win this war."
Smokescreen knows even if Ratchet could build a battle-ready wheelchair, he wouldn't. Smokescreen isn't sure if he'd want such a wheelchair to be built.
(Y/N) can help Raf. The two provide support for the Autobots looking for predacon fossils. Smokescreen is terrified to leave (Y/N), even if Ratchet will get the two humans to safety if the cons attack.
"I'll be fine, Smokescreen," (Y/N) assures him.
Smokescreen goes with Bumblebee and Optimus, still worried he made a mistake. Thinking this is how it'll be until the end of the war.
