Smokescreen struggles not to panic watching (Y/N) in labor. He ends up crying once the baby is born.
(Y/N) was right about Ratchet worrying about her during the pregnancy. Optimus tells her this is now Ratchet us even before the war as he helped cybertronian femmes deliver their sparkling. Smokescreen begins to worry as she gets bigger. He's happy (Y/N) lives at the base and doesn't have to tell her she should live here. The two decide to wait until the baby is born to find out what they're having. The others have fun betting on what the couple is having.
June teaches Ratchet how human femmes give birth but hopes to come for the birth.
"I'm doing my best to request time off close to the due date. Hoping that if I'm working, I can say it's a medical emergency," June tells Ratchet.Everything is fine during every appointment with Ratchet. Smokescreen worries they'll be told something is wrong every appointment.
(Y/N) wakes up early in the morning, feeling pain. She knows it's time when she moves, but the pain doesn't stop.
"Smokescreen, wake up. I think it's time," (Y/N) whispers. Smokescreen jumps out of bed as if the baby is coming, "chill, we have a little longer to wait."The two go to the medbay, where Ratchet is already working.
"A month early, someone is tired of being stuck in there," Ratchet jokes.
"What?!" Smokescreen panics.
"Chill, it's normal for a baby to decide thirty-six weeks is long enough. Though I thought this one would be late. Another interesting fact about human femmes having sparklings."
The three know it'll likely be late at night before (Y/N) is ready. Ratchet lets the couple return to their room until (Y/N)'s water breaks. Ratchet watches the two leave, worried he can't do this even with June's help.
"... I should be able to be there," June assures him.Smokescreen struggles to be calm while (Y/N) is calm.
"Ah, so it's not just human mechs," (Y/N) teases. She knows the pain will only worsen, worried about how Smokescreen will handle it.Smokescreen struggles not to panic as contractions get more intense. It's only been four hours, so he's certain Ratchet will say (Y/N) isn't close to delivering.
Ratchet gives in and checks (Y/N).
"Three centimeters and baby is doing fine."
Ratchet leaves the room but decides he needs to prepare the medbay. He updates June, hoping she'll be able to come here soon.By three in the afternoon, (Y/N) is uncomfortable, and Smokescreen is worried.
"My water broke," she pants, "fuck, the pressure hurts. Seriously feels like this baby is trying to get out early," she tries to stand up to head to the medbay, "shit!"
He watches as a liquid goes down her legs, worried about the obvious signs the pain has intensified. Smokescreen worries that the water can break just as a femme is ready to push. Smokescreen watches (Y/N) struggle to get comfortable in the bed even though they're supposed to be going to the medbay.
"Ugh fuck! I'm not going anywhere! Get Ratchet!" (Y/N) yells, hoping she's ready.Ratchet is a little concerned hearing how much pain (Y/N) is in. He's happy the others left for the day. He gets the stretcher, hoping he can get (Y/N) to the medbay, and alerts June.
"Six centimeters," Ratchet tells the couple, "I'd rather you be in the medbay so I can monitor you."
With Smokescreen's help, Ratchet gets (Y/N) on the stretcher and medbay. Smokescreen questions why now Ratchet wants to monitor (Y/N).The three are happy hearing a strong heartbeat from the baby, but it's short-lived as (Y/N) deals with pain, hoping she'll be ready soon. Ratchet insists (Y/N) gets pain relief to walk around the medbay. June walks in during the middle of the conversation, immediately noticing how much pain (Y/N) is in, and she can convince (Y/N) to get pain relief before it's too late.
Smokescreen struggles to watch (Y/N) deal with contractions even with pain relief. She can walk around the medbay, hugging Smokescreen's holoform as she's dealing with contractions. It's a challenging four hours. It's eight at night. By now, the Autobots and three kids had returned. Ratchet is happy he could add soundproof material to the walls of the medbay. Even though everyone questioned why he did that months before Smokescreen even met (Y/N).
(Y/N) walks around the room until the next contraction. She leans on the wall.
"Fuck, Smokescreen!" She calls out, "shit!"
Ratchet and Smokescreen help (Y/N) on the floor, knowing she won't be able to get to the bed. (Y/N) cannot wait until Ratchet checks her.
"I feel the head; it's time," Ratchet confirms, happy he doesn't have to tell (Y/N) to stop.
June and Smokescreen sit on either side of (Y/N). June can see everything while Smokescreen would rather not. It's a long forty minutes before the baby is born and screaming. Though Ratchet wasn't pleased to hear a human sparkling is coming, he smiles at the baby.
"Welcome to Earth, little one," he says as he cleans the baby.
"It's a (boy/girl)," June smiles.
Now that (Y/N) isn't in pain, Ratchet and Smokescreen help her onto the bed. Smokescreen cries seeing (Y/N) feeding the baby. It still surprised him that he's in love with a human, and now they have a sparkling together.
