TFP | Optimus Prime X Ratchet: Misunderstanding

Ratchet finds out he's sparked the same day he thinks he sees Optimus cheating on him. It takes time for them to work things out. Optimus finds Ratchet in bad shape during labor, but they have a healthy sparkling,

"Frag," Ratchet pants as he cuddles with his sparkmate, Optimus Prime.
The two relax on their berth until they slip into recharge.

A week later, a femme Cybertronian arrives in a damaged ship at the base. All she asks is for her ship to be repaired, and she'll leave.
"Thank you for letting me stay here a few days," she thanks Prime.
Ratchet sees the interaction but doesn't hear what the femme says. To Ratchet, it seems the femme is flirting, and Optimus isn't telling her to stop. His upset tank makes Ratchet leave the scene and rush to the cybertronian bathroom.
After throwing up, Ratchet scans himself, expecting to find out he's sick, shocked at what his scan actually finds.
Now what? Ratchet wonders. How long before Optimus tells me we're through? Do I tell him we're having a sparkling? Would it be fair to the sparkling?
Ratchet decides to think about the situation for a while.

A month passes. The femme has left, but Ratchet keeps his distance from Optimus, which worries the Prime.
"What troubles you, Ratchet?" Optimus asks one day while the others are out of the base.
He can't believe what Ratchet is saying. He's excited to be a sire but hurt that Ratchet thinks he was cheating on Ratchet. Optimus knows Ratchet won't listen as he explains it was a misunderstanding. He says he's happy to be a sire and walks away.

Optimus struggles to wait until Ratchet is ready to talk to him. Hoping it's before the sparkling is born, and Ratchet lets Optimus explain himself. The others see something happening between their leader and medic but won't ask either. They can only hope whatever is going on is resolved before their sparkling is born and things don't worsen between them.

Ratchet is now six months pregnant and decides to talk to Optimus. Telling his sparkmate, he forgives him. Optimus decides not to bother explaining Ratchet's misunderstanding, worried it'll cause an argument. Optimus gets to feel their sparkling kick. The two enter their berthroom, and the cuddling becomes a make-out session.
"I think someone is happy their parents are back together," Ratchet smiles. Optimus smiles, feeling the repeated kicking from the sparkling.

Even while the sparkling can come any day now, Optimus still needs to lead the Autobots. Every time he leaves on a mission, he worries about Ratchet going into labor alone.
Ratchet also worries Optimus will miss the birth of their sparkling, but he knows he can't tell Optimus to stay behind.
"I hope your sire will be - frag," Ratchet cries, knowing he's feeling a contraction. Worried he'll have a quick labor because Optimus isn't with him.
Ratchet continues to work until his water breaks. By this point, it's hard to stand up, and he struggles to get to his berthroom and lies on the berth.

"Fuck, of course, this is a short labor," he pants.
He's more worried about his energy draining faster as his body prepares for delivery. Something that's not uncommon but serious if the carrier is delivering alone.
Ratchet struggles to comm Optimus between contractions.

Optimus and the team return thirty minutes later. All are concerned that Ratchet isn't at the computer. "You don't think he's been in labor alone, do you/" Bulkhead asks.
Optimus rushes to the shared berthroom, worried. The others know they'll find out if they hear screaming and then the sound of a sparkling crying.

"Ratchet!" Optimus worries, seng Ratchet on the floor, slouched over. Optimus remember hearing some carriers' energy drains faster during labor, and the tired response from Ratchet worries him. Even with his larger size, Optimus' digit can fit in Ratcet's valve, "Ratchet, come one, time to push."
The tired medic pushes, but Optimus knows the pushes aren't as strong as a carrier who isn't tired.
Optimus is encouraging as the tired medic pushes. Hating how much pain Ratchet is in as the helm crowns.
"Frag!" Ratchet cries.
"That's it, Ratchet. They're almost here."

Soon the pain fades, and the two hear crying.
"It's a (mech/femme)," Optimus smiles and puts the sparkling in Ratchet's arms.
The tired medic smiles.
Once delivery is finished, Optimus helps his tired mate to their berth. The sparking is quick t nurse after Ratchet removes his chassis armor that exposes nipples like humans have.
Optimus is still fascinated by how similar Cybertronians are to humans and how he and Ratchet just added to the Cybertronian race. The two talk about a name for their sparkling as Ratchet feeds them. After the feeding, Ratchet can no longer stay awake. Optimus takes their (daughter/ son) to meet the others., who are happy the sparkling is here, and Ratchet is ok.
