Surprised is having your ex-boyfriend slash ex-baby daddy show up at the hospital that your daughter is taken to while your current, used-to-be-ex-boyfriend is also there.

Awkward is having your ex-boyfriend slash ex-baby daddy show up at the hospital that your daughter was taken to with a girl by his side while your current, used-to-be-ex-boyfriend is also there.

Aubrey stands there like a deer in headlights looking at Keenan and Khelani; the mixed junior girl with major curves that goes to their school. What is she doing with him? What is he doing with her? Are they an item now? What the heck is going on?

Aubrey lets go of her aunt as Keenan crosses the floor with Khelani following behind him like a puppy. When he reaches them, he licks lips before talking. "I was at the beach and I saw you run off with Neveah in your arms. You guys left all your stuff behind and it wouldn't be fair if I just let someone steal it, so we grabbed it and followed you here." He glances down to the bags and beach towel in his hands. Khelani is holding the umbrella delicately in her hands, shifting her weight from side to side.

Aubrey has to force herself to make words come out her mouth. "Thank you," she says softly. "That was the furthest thing from my mind."

Khelani and Keenan place all their belongings on a nearby chair. "So what happened?" He asks.

"Neveah found a bead and put it in her mouth. She choked on it and started turning blue. The doctors were able to dislodge it and they say she's going to be fine." Aubrey feels like he is judging her silently. He probably thinks she's not responsible enough to care for Neveah without him there to help.

He simply nods his head. "Wow, that's scary. I'm glad Neveah is ok."

Aubrey forces a smile and glances at Khelani. She wants to ask why Keenan showed up her with when there were plenty of other people at their little beach party. But she knows that's none of her business and he probably wouldn't tell her anyway. She doesn't blame him either. From  her dark brown hair, squinty green eyes and round face. Khelani is a bombshell. Not to mention her perky C cups.

Jeremiah clears his throat extra loudly making Aubrey remember he was even there. Reaching out to take his hand, she pulls him to her side. "Jeremiah this is Keenan and Khelani. Guys this is Jeremiah...Neveah's father."

Khelani crinkles her eyebrows in confusion before covering it up with a small smile. Resentment flashes through Keenan's eyes briefly but he extends his hand to Jeremiah cordially. "Nice to meet you."

"Same," Jeremiah shakes his hand kindly but his eyes remain dark. "Are you guys on a date?" His eyes stay trained on Keenan like its a challenge. Aubrey cringes internally but Keenan looks unamused.

He only smiles and shoves his hands in his pockets. Ignoring Jeremiah he looks over at Aubrey. "We're gonna get going, but I'm glad Neveah is ok."

"Thanks...for bringing our stuff to us." Aubrey says.

Keenan simply nods. "Nice seeing you again Mrs. Bryant." He says to her aunt, giving her a quick side hug.

"You too Keenan." She smiles sincerely at him and Aubrey can tell that she's sad to see him go.

Khelani waves goodbye to them before looping her arm through Keenan's. Even though she's a nice girl, Aubrey can't help but be irritated by the confident switch in her hips as she walks. They watch silently as the two of them walk out the hospital and the doors slide shut behind them. Aubrey closes her eyes briefly and sighs.

"We should go see Nevy." Her aunt says to break the silence. Aubrey agrees and ignores Jeremiah's eyes burning holes into her skin as she turns around. This day did not go as planned.
