"Are you sure this is the right place?" Monica asks, peering through the window doubtfully.
"I know how to read directions Monica," Ty snaps from the drivers seat. "The address said 116 Whitley Street. That house says 116 and we're on Whitley street."
Everyone stares at the vacant looking house at the end of the complex. It's a simple two story house that looks just as still as the others around it, complete with trimmed bushes, a white picket fence and gleaming red shudders.
"It's just so quiet." Sevyn says. Although there are cars up and down the road, there's no music or talking to be heard coming from the house. The lights are off inside and it looks deserted.
"Told y'all its gonna be wack." Ty puts the key in the ignition. "Who's up for some White Castle burgers?"
"Oh no," Kat whips off her seat belt. "I did not get all cute and put on heels for nothing. The least we can do is knock on the door."
"I agree," Shaun adds in. "I'm in the partying mood."
Taking the key out the ignition, Ty unlocks the doors and everyone climbs out their aunts SUV. He presses the lock button on the car remote and together they walk up to the front door. Kat rings the bell and they wait anxiously for someone to answer it.
The door swings open and Nigel, the guitar player they met last week, smiles at them. "Hey, welcome welcome!" He exclaims, throwing his hands in the air.
"Um...is the party tonight or did we mix up the dates?" Kat cranes her neck to look over his shoulder into the empty house.
"No it's tonight, follow me." Nigel waves them in and then turns and gestures for them to follow.
Before she can walk in, Monica grabs Kat's arm and lowers her voice. "Should we really go in? First of all we don't know this guy and second of all, I hear no music, see no people and its dark."
"True," Malcolm pushes Shaun through the door. "You go first."
"Hey!" Shaun jumps back, stepping on some of their feet in the process. "He could be a murderer."
"It's not too late for White Castle." Ty sing songs, looking up at the clear night sky.
Nigel pops up in front of them from the darkness. "Are you guys gonna come in? I promise I don't bite." He smiles at them playfully, showing off his sparkling white teeth.
Shaun glances at his friends who just shrug nervously. He gives Nigel a weak smile before following him into the house. He listens to the others slowly do the same and together they all creep down the hallway.
"So who lives here?" Shaun asks, staring at Nigel's dreads swaying back and forth down his back.
"Me and my parents. They're staying in a hotel for the night so I can throw my party." He tells them. "Thanks for coming by the way."
"No problem," Ty glances up at the ceiling where an expensive chandelier hangs. "Not to be rude or anything, but it's mad quiet around here. This party seems dead."
Nigel stops in front of a door on the left hand side of the wall and turns to face Ty. He has a sly smirk on his face and his hand rests on the knob. "Wait for it." He says. They watch anxiously as he slowly turns the knob and opens the door. Music explodes from behind the door and they all jump backwards from the sudden noise. Catchy music flows into the hallway and laughter can be heard from downstairs. Nigel chuckles at their stunned expressions. "This way," he uses his finger as a way for them to follow.
Shaun looks at his friends with wide eyes before following Nigel down the carpeted steps and into the basement. Multicolored LED lights illuminate the path under ground and the deeper they go, the louder the music gets. Sevyn's heart vibrates along with the bass as they reach the last step.
