When the first day of school finally arrives Sevyn is nervous, anxious and excited all at once. It's the first time she's walking into school without her brothers by her side. Her first time roaming the halls without Shaun pushing her into people or Corey randomly tripping her. It's her last first day of her high school years. Her last years of seeing her friends every single day. It's a bittersweet time and she can't wait to see what this school year brings her.

"I'm leaving!" Sevyn yells from the living room. Everyone was still sleeping when she woke up, not even her mom was downstairs even though she did prepare her waffles eggs and bacon earlier. Ty, Malcolm and Corey weren't getting up any time soon since they had no where to be, but she was hoping they'd at least come down and see her off. Shrugging her shoulders she opens the door, "Bye!"

Stepping outside and closing the door behind her, Sevyn turns just in time for a bright flash to blind her. "What the..." She trails off and covers her eyes. She hears laughter before another bright flash goes off. Blinking a couple times, her eyes adjust and clears up her vision. Standing in front of her is her mom and dad holding up their phones to take pictures.

"You think we'd let you go off and start your senior year without taking some pictures first?" Her dad asks.

"I thought you were still sleeping." She laughs.

"Nope, I snuck outside when you went upstairs to get your bookbag." Her mother tells her.

"And I came over bright and early to see you off." Her dad adds.

Sevyn laughs and pretends to be embarrassed as neighborhood kids pass by their house and look over to see what's going on. She stands on the steps with her bookbag on her shoulders, smiling at the cameras for at least ten minutes before a horn starts obnoxiously honking.

"Oh man, your parents do this to? I just escaped mine." Monica shouts out the window as she pulls up in her car.

"Monica, come stand beside Sevyn and let me get a few pictures of y'all." Sevyn's mom says excitedly.

Monica forces a smile and puts the car in park before hopping out and walking over. She's wearing a red shirt with a silver statement necklace, a black pencil skirt that hugs her hips and simple black flats. Her look is tied together with wand curls in her new dark hair that Sevyn is still getting used to along with some makeup to emphasize her beauty. She puts her arm around her friend and they smile for a few pictures.

"You look cute," Monica tells her.

"Thanks," Sevyn replies through her teeth as her mother snaps another picture. She spent all last night picking out something to wear before finally deciding on a long white shirt with slits on the sides, a pair of jeans ripped at the knees and her white sandals.

"Can we go now mom, I think you have enough pictures."

Her mother finally puts down the camera, "Ok ok, I'm just so excited. You're starting senior year! Ugh, where has the time gone?"

Sevyn laughs at her mother dramatics, now she sees where she gets it from. "See you guys after school," she says heading down the steps.

"Have a good day girls," Her dad tells them.

"We will," Sevyn waves to all of them and looks at Monica. "Can I drive? I just wanna show off that I finally got my license."

Monica tosses her the keys, and she squeals excitedly before opening the door and sliding in. She tosses her book bag into the backseat and starts the car. Waving to her parents one last time, she backs out the drive way and heads down the street.

"Are you nervous? Every year I'm nervous for the first day of school." Sevyn says.

Monica nods, "Yeah, I don't know why though. I mean, how long have we been going to this school, four years now? We should be used to this."
