Keenan blinks once, "Well this is unexpected."
Neveah looks up at him for a moment before going back to fiddling with Sevyn's necklace. Her small fingers pinch the heart pendant, trying to get it in her mouth as usual.
"What is?" Sevyn asks.
"That you're here," He states. When he opened the door he expected it to be Janine or a police officer coming to talk to him. When it turned out to be Sevyn, he was at a lost for words. "I thought you were still in California."
"We came back yesterday," Sevyn pulls her necklace form Neveah's fingers before she can put her mouth on it. "I wanted to drop by and see how you were. I heard about Aubrey missing."
Keenan nods his head, "Yeah, it's been rough around here but I'm coping and praying that she comes home soon."
"Sorry to hear that," She sympathizes.
Keenan glances out the window, "So you're driving now?"
"Yeah, I got my license when school ended." She tells him proudly. "No more sitting in the passenger seat. Even though I do have to share the car with three other people, it still feels nice to drive."
"That's good."
"So what did you do all summer?"
"Oh man," Keenan shakes his head. "It's been busy around here. Drama with Aubrey and her ex, my song finally coming out. You missed a lot."
Sevyn wonders if she should bother mentioning that she already knows about the baby daddy issue with Aubrey, and decides to keep it to herself. "I heard your song for the first time yesterday, it hasn't hit the west coast yet. I liked it though, you have a hit on your hands."
"Thank you," Keenan beams.
"It's like all that hard work in the studio finally paid off," She smiles, remembering how he would stay cooped up in Marcus' stuffy basement for hours working on his music. "I'm proud of you."
Keenan looks at Sevyn but doesn't say anything. She's changed since they broke up, she has this confidence vibe around her and she smiles way more than she did when they were together. He misses her, having her around, laughing with her, talking heart to heart with her. He misses everything about her but knows they could never go back to the way they used to be.
"Thanks for coming to visit me, I really appreciate it." He says to her.
"Any time," She bounces Neveah in her lap. "I can't believe how big she's getting. Last time I saw her she was tiny and swaddled up in a blanket. Now look at her, moving all over the place with all this hair."
"Maybe you can babysit sometime," Keenan chuckles.
"Ha ha..." She says dryly. Neveah gurgles at her and reaches for her Necklace again, but Sevyn tucks it away into her shirt to keep her from pulling it off. "I should go, I promised Jackson's little sister I would come by and play with her today.
Keenan stands up along with her, "Kids just love you huh?"
"Yup," Sevyn gives Neveah over to him. "Bye bye Nevy, be good." She tells her and walks to the door. Keenan opens it for her and she steps outside then turns to face him. "Feel free to call me if you need anything."
"I will, thank you."
"See you later," Sevyn waves goodbye then jogs down the steps and heads to her mom's car in the driveway. She get into the drivers seat then pulls out the driveway and cruises down the street. As soon as she's gone, Neveah starts fussing again. She's gotten into the habit of throwing random fits everyday and it takes forever to stop them.
