"Has grievingly lost." the announcer said. I was about to bash his little face out but I guess he made up for it, Charlie and Alex went up shaking and not really believing until a girl came out and put a crown and tiara on both of them. I had to go, this was there feud and it ended, Mace, Moose and Luke took me home.
"I thought you were beautiful out there you know." Mace said.
"It was Moose's work, besides you couldn't really see my face out there.
"That's not true, I recognized you when you came out."
"You knew what kind of dress I was in." I said, he stayed silent but smiled and looked at me. "Yeah, but we were the only ones who knew that you could pull it off." It was so cliche that I laughed and I couldn't help but feel a little joy. We came in and two people were at the door.
"Mom, and Dad?" Mace said. They were two beautiful people, the father looked very muscular and the mother had bright red hair that she was shining brighter than the sun. It was a beautiful sight and I can't help but want to capture this moment as Mace went up to hug them.
"Mace my boy." the man hugged him.
"Dear, maybe we need to spend time with our son." Son, a true word from a family. I watched as they looked at each other with tender love.
"Why don't we all go inside?" I suggested gesturing to the door.
"You must be Katie, your grandfather has done so much for us."
"Please come in, I'd like to get to know my friends parents." I smiled. I led them in and I set up for drinks as they all catched up together, it seems they all knew each other, Anne had come by right as I let them in and caught up with them too. I was the outsider here, the one providing a place to stay. Putting a bit of fresh lemon in the drink to lighten the water up I sighed.
"So, you're the girl my son is to protect." his mother said, I didn't even turn around to hear a mother's word.
"Yes, I'm sorry."
"Don't be, it's his job and e owe your father so much for what he's done."
"But-"
"No, shut up and just accept it." I stood there quietly and she chuckled. "I have a gift of getting people to shut up, don't take it personally but still thank you and don't try to take it back." I laughed and we took the drinks over. We had some decent conversations and my granparents came home and they joined in, I was too happy to even mind. Family was a good thing, I don't know how you could live without it. Family is power, you could just see it, especially from Mace and his parents. As soon as night fell Mace's parents took him home thanking for inviting us into the house. Moose and Luke went home also. Tomorrow was the weekend so nothing to do but stick with my grandparents.
"That was a nice family." Grandmother said while we washed dishes. I nodded in agreement, our family was never hilarious or social like that unless they were at parties.
"Katie, tomorrow you are going to another party with the Summers." Grandfather said, I turned around to him and gave him my constapated look.
"Are you joking with me?!"
"Why should I need to joke about this?" He said keeping his straight face. Can he not keep remingind me about this whole arrangement thing? I've had just about enough with it, I don't want to get married after high school, I want to live out my dreams, become what is meant to me.
"Why are you making me do this?" I yelled.
"Katie, please don't shout." Grandmother said as she put her hand on my shoulder. I shrugged it off.
