"What?" I said dumbfounded.
"You are to marry one of these boys. It will happen right after you graduate from high school but in the mean time you will choose one during this year and after graduation you will wed one of them.." the mom of the guys had said.
"When did I agree on this?" I asked angrily.
"Katie this is an arranged marriage." Mom said firmly.
"Why?" I snapped.
"All five of us decided this long ago, to expand our companies farther out. One of us was the first one to suggest this and we all agreed to it." Dad said.
"Who said I would be so keen on this?" I asked abruptly.
"Katie, calm down." Jon said. I turned to him with anger written all over.
"You knew, didn't you?" He didn't say anything. "Thought so, did you two know?" I asked glaring at them. Hah, they didn't say anything either, guess I'm not trusted to know. I got up abruptly and headed out.
"Where are you going?" Mom asked.
"Going to a place where I can't see any of you." I spat and left the house, good things these aren't really skinny jeans, there actually flexible. I started running; I didn't know where to run to so I kept on running until I was out of breath. Before I knew it I was in front of the lake, guess I took the long way to come here, I'm stupid.
"Why now? Out of all the time why now?" I asked. I'll be graduating in one year and I already have a fiancé, two? I can't handle this, I'll be turning eighteen soon, and I can call it off right? I sat on the bricks again and hung my legs there.
"I wish I could be free." I whispered.
"It's not that bad." someone said behind me, I turned to him and it was the player looking one. I grimaced and he smirked, I turned my back on him.
"Well, you're not a bad looking girl for my age, maybe if you'd just smile like you did when you cut my sister's hair you would be much cuter." he blew into my ear. Goosebumps started forming and I pushed him away and he laughed. I steadied myself onto the bricks, I made sure not to slip then he grabbed my hand.
"I am your age." I said.
"Don't slip." he said. I didn't look at him; instead I looked at the horizon forming in the lake and sighed.
"Why was I the only one who didn't know of this?" I asked.
"They probably thought you were going to freak out like this." he said. I glared at him and he just chuckled.
"Why are you here?" I asked narrowing my eyes down at him.
"To kill time."
"Why don't you find an innocent girl who would love to be in bed with you?" I asked raising my eyebrow. He chuckled once more and I scoffed at him.
"Well, I'm preoccupied as of now with a girl." he said.
"And who might the lucky young lady be?" I asked sarcastically.
"You" Once again I scoffed and he laughed, could he not give off a vibe of player?
"Just go away." I said sharply. The wind picked up and my hair started swooning back with the wind, if I fall will the wind catch me? No, there is no one there for me and there never will be. I sighed and looked down; he was looking at me as if trying to read my mind.
"What are you looking at?" I snapped. He turned back and turned his head.
"Nothing." he said sheepishly. I jumped off but I saw he tried to catch me, just a player moment to me though. Nothing special happens, it's not like in the movies where the player falls for the girl and the girl will deliberately fall for that player. I have no one I love; I don't even know what the definition of love is. The other boy was looking at the both of us.
"Carter, come over here." the boy had said. He came over there and they both looked at me.
"As of today we are your candidates for your fiancée. I'm Carter and he's Adam." the boys said. I was starting to get fed up with the entire arranged marriage thing.
"Answer me this question." I sharply said.
"What?" Adam asked.
"Why do you love me, what is the definition of your love?" I asked. They looked a bit perplexed about that question and I smirked. "You don't know do you? How are we going to be fiancée’s if we don't know what love is?" I asked brushing past them; I started running towards the house and took the shorter way to get there. I was pretty shocked when the boys were already there.
"Katie." Dad had said but I brushed past him whispering "I don't want to talk." I went up to my room and blared the music on up loud. Tune out all the crap and make the best of it.
