I came by a row of houses, they weren't as big as mine but they were big. I rang the door bell hoping they would answer me.
"Yes Miss Katie?"
"Hi Mr. Bo, is Grandma here?"
"Why yes of course, come in." I came in and soon Carter was following behind. I scowled at him as he tried to catch his breath, it wasn't even that far of a run. "Miss Katie, she will be here in a few moments." he replied leaving to go to her bedroom. I nodded as he went and turned my eyes into a scowl to look at the person in front of me. "What are you doing here?" I asked fiercly.
"Well you told me to catch up so I did." I smirked ready for my retort until someone came in.
"Katie!" I quickly turned around to see Grandma in her wheelchair with Mr. Bo behind her holding the reins. I ran up and hugged her.
"Hey Grandma."
"Oh look at you, everytime you visit you grow." she smiled.
"Grandma, I only visit twice a week or whenever I can. Where's Gramps?" I said breaking the hug and smiling at her.
"Oh I know, but you just look beautiful everytime I see you. Your grandfather is sleeping right now, we musn't wake him up."
"Thank you and we'll be quiet.." I said and we came into the living room. Carter went into the other room with his phone near his ear, hope he was going away soon.
"Will you stay for dinner dear?" she asked.
"Of course, anything for you Grandma."
"How's Violet and Jon?" she asked.
"They're doing great." I said through gritted teeth.
"How's Mr. Luke? Is he still treating you like his daughter?" she asked.
"He thinks I'm a bit of a brat, maybe I am?" I said in more of a question way.
"Sweetie, you're not a brat and I would know from raising you most in my life time." she said happiily. I laughed and Carter came back in but Grandma didn't question him. Mr. Bo started getting ready for dinner so I went into the kitchen to help him and I could distinctively hear Grandma talking to Carter. I don't eavesdrop so I tuned them out as I started making some fried noodles with Mr. Bo.
"Miss Katie, how is school now a days?" he asked as he was chopping lettuce.
"Well, parents made me switch out of public school." I said angrily as I seasoned the noodles.
"It's not like you liked it right?" he asked pouring in the lettuce and sifting the water out of it.
"I enjoyed being reserved and the nobody there but now going to a high class school for the beautiful, I won't have any privacy at all and all the girls will be getting on my nerves." I said flipping the noodles.
"Oh, well I'm very sorry." he said.
"What's cooking?" I heard an irritable voice say. I turned to see Adam leaning on the doorway coming over. I turned back around to see the noodles, good they weren't burning.
"Aw, made to be a wife of mine." he said with a cocky smile. I brushed him off and went to go put the noodles on a plate. Good thing I made more or else someone here might get offended and we wouldn't want that would we?
Carter helped set the table up and Adam just sat there with his legs on top of each other and talking to Grandma. She seemed to be having a good time so I didn't bother them and started helping Mr. Bo set the food.
"Miss Katie, will you go get the cups?" Mr. Bo asked me. I nodded and made my way to the kitchen again. And again, I was really short and couldn't reach so someone reached for me, this time it was Adam.
"Thanks." I mumbled.
"What was that?" he smirked with his face right in front of me. I tried going the other way but he still had his face in front of me. "I didn't quite hear you." I mumbled it and he just pointed his ear indicating that he didn't hear quite loud enough.
"Thanks for getting it for me." I said clearly and got out of his grasp and went to fill it up with some water. My hair dropped down in front of me as I poured the water over it, maybe I needed to cut my hair but I can't face going in there again.
"Katie, come let's eat." Grandma had gestured towards me and I nodded and sat down next to her, she was on my left and unfrotunately Adam on my right. Carter sat in front of us with Mr. Bo. We all sat down and everyone started eating except me. Carter was whiskly eating his noodles but what surprised me the most was Adam, he looked elegant eating his noodles.
"Katie, aren't you going to eat your noodles dear?" Grandma asked and I nodded but I still didn't pick up the fork.
"So, Miss Katie, anything special happen?" Mr. Bo asked to break off the tension. I turned to him, the only ever "special" thing that happened was the engagements plan. "Well, I've just learned that someone in the family has decided that I am to wed someone without my choosing." I grimaced. Everything went quiet, yes I ruined the moment but I am still pretty mad. People deciding what you want isn't what you really want, it's them controlling you and I will not be manipulated. I held my ground, all of them started figiting.
"Do you two have any idea who set up our little arrangement?" I asked pointing at Adam and Carter.
"It's not good to point, Katie." Grandma said softly. I put my hand down but I still had my eyebrows arched waiting for an answer. "Are you going to tell me or do I have to find out the hard way myself?" I asked.
"I was the one who arranged it."
