Forced Love

Chapter 13 Rose Court

It's Adam and me in the kitchen, grandfather decided we should all have a great family dinner even though I want nothing to do with him.

"You know, if you keep denying this you're just going to have a hard time." he said cockingly as he was chopping the carrots.

"Do you really think I want this?" I asked boiling the water. Mom isn't here so I had to do the work and he offered to help so I took it.

"Well you can't do anything about it, besides I like the idea, having a beautiful girl as my wife." he smirked.

"Well I'm sure you say that to every girl you lay." I retorted taking the carots away from him and putting in the boiling water. Some water splatters on my arm and it hurts, I put my other hand on my arm and I feel someone behind me. It's Adam and he looks concerened, he takes my arm quickly and turns on the sink. His grip kind of tightens around me and it hurts more than the burn.

"I'm fine, you can let go." I wince, he loosens it and turns off the water.

"You okay?" he asks. I nod and he sighs as if he's relieved. "Thanks." I said as he releases me, I put on a cover for the boiling carrots and go up to get some dishes. I can barely touch them but then of course Adam gets his hand on mine to get the plates. I can feel his chest on my back, it's firm and rough. "Um, can I get through?" I ask. I can feel his smirk and he lets me out and grabs the plate. He sets up the table konwing that I'm watching him. I turn around and go do other stuff but in my mind what that face was, what that reaction was.

"Katie, I'm home!" Jon calls but I completely blow it off and keep cooking.

"You know, sooner or later you have to stop being mad at them." Adam says.

"Maybe when they don't make me sick." I sternly said. He sounded like he was about to say something but instead he took a deep sigh and continued setting up.

"Hey, big brother." Adam says as Carter comes in.

"It smells delicious in here, what are you cooking?" Carter asks.

"Soup, and roast beef." Adam says.

"Really?" Jon asks popping in. I tune everyone out as they gibber at each other like a bunch of turkeys. I start dishing it out and putting it on the table while everyone blabbers there mouth at each other. I start getting a text so I get out my phone to see who it is.

John: Hey, we're setting up, you want to come? We'll have lunch there too.

Me: Okay one sec.

I look up and tell them directly.

"I'm not going to be here because I have Guardian stuff." I say then I wave and once I head out the door Carter takes my hand.

"Is Charlie Bear alright?" he asks.

"Charlie Bear?" I question him, I know who it is but let's tease him a bit.

"I mean Charlotte."

"Yeah, Charlie is okay." I say and I start driving over to the school. I come into the Guardian and someone picks me up, now usually the girl would scream but this was actually a bit fun.

"Hey Ands." I said looking down, he smiled up at me and put me down and I thanked him.

"So, where are the others?" I ask.

"In the auditorium where it's supposed to be." John said.

"Okay, and you guys waited up for me?"

"Of course that's what best friends are for." Andrew said ruffling my hair. I swatted his hand away and he just laughed and we went over ot the auditorium.

"Hey Charlie!" I said waving and she rushed over me and nearly tackled me. "Calm down Charles." I said laughing.

"Well I can't do that with one of my best friends!" she squealed. I arched my eyebrow, "I'm your best friend?" I asked.

"Everyone in the Guardians are best friends." she smiles.

"That is true." Alex said coming over.

"Hmm." Nick said.

"The bunch of wierdos band together." Klaude smiled. We all laughed before someone piped up. "Um, is there a dance here tomorrow night?" the girl asked.

"Who wants to know?" Charlie asked.

"The people that weren't invited to the Alice party." she piped up.

"I thought everyone was invited except us." I said.

"No, they only invited the jocks and all the other cheerleaders and peole who were worthy of going."

"Oh, well then yeah this is the place." Charlie said.

"Oh, do you need any help setting up?" she asked.

"Um sure I guess." Alex said.

"Okay." she said. All of us went back to our work while King sent her to help with Nick, Nick just fidgeted a bit but bit through it. I thought it was funny and cute, it seemed as though the girl was nervous around Nick too.

"Do you suppose she likes him?" John asked.

"I don't know but she sure is nervous around him." Andrew said.

"Come on, we don't need to be paying any attention to them." I said grabbing them both by the ears and taking them over to where we were supposed to work.

"Ow, let go!" Andrew whined.

"We get it!" John said right after I let go, I couldn't help but laugh. "So, anyone going to wear all fancy like?" I asked putting the decorations on the tables.

"Maybe-"

"Although it seems like too much work." Andrew finished for John. They were putting plates and stuff, there were only a few tables set up so it wasn't a really big deal. "So are you gonig to wear fancy like?" John asked me.

"No, like Andrew said, it's too much work, besides I've never worn a dress." I swiftly said.

"Andrew, this abmonation isn't showing her beauty." John said horrified.

"We should take her and question who she is." Andrew said. I threw a towel at them and they laughed, I kind of stiffled a laugh but it's true. I've only worn pants and a skirt if I have to like at school but other than that, pants, skinny jeans and jeans.

"Well, this is just a formal dance so you don't really need to wear anything." Klaude said coming over. "How are the decorations coming along?" he asked.

"Great, not much to do now, let's grab a bite and watch a movie." John said.

"Sounds nice." Charlie said coming over.

"It's not like we have much to do." Alex said.

"What kind of movie?" Andrew asked.

"Well I have some good ones back at my house, we can go there." Charlie said.

"Okay, I'll drive." Alex said.

"Ah, been a long time since we've all been in the Love house."

"This is my first time going to anyone's house." I said getting up.

"Charlie's house is pretty big, but very comfy." Klaude said.

"Then I look forward to going." I smiled as they led the way.
