Welcome to Las Vegas! I hope you have a great trip the blonde said smiling at me as I exited the plane. I'd never stepped foot out of the radius of Miami Dade county, yet here I am in a state I'd only heard about on TV. I couldn't believe I actually did it, I actually freed myself from that hell hole I was in, to start a new life. It took me a little longer than expected to get here because of some unforeseen circumstances with my family and getting them in the US. But they are here now, and I got them settled into a good area with jobs and the kids are in school. Now it's time for me for me to start my new job and finally get the life I deserve.
I made my way to baggage claim to gather stuff before going out to the pick area where I am supposed to meet someone that is gonna take me to meet Nicoli. You Roxanne! Who's asking I said eyeing the woman. Watch the attitude and I am Christine, and I am here to take you to the ranch. The ranch! Yeah, as in The Bunny Ranch you do know where you are right, she said reaching for my bag. I got it I said rolling my eyes. Suite yourself she said walking towards a vehicle with blinking lights and getting in. I followed behind her and put my stuff in the already open trunk before going to the back. This ain't Driving Miss Daisy I don't chauffer people get in the front she yelled through the open window. My bad, didn't realize there was protocol for getting in the car. Maybe we got off on the wrong foot she said sucking her teeth, I am Christine! Roxanne, I said putting on my seat belt on. This your first time in Vegas? Yup never left Miami before. Miami huh, now why would you leave a beautiful place like that for the dessert? I needed a change of scenery you could say. Hmph, she said nodding as she drove.
So, what do you do at the ranch, I said as we drove? I am the house mother. House mother? My job is to make sure you girls stay in working condition and make money. Oh, so you're management then. You ask a lot of questions for a newbie. I am just wondering cause Nicoli promised me the management job! Oh, sweetie you actually believed that he tells all the girls that. All the girls? Yeah, there are about 15 of 20 of yall now, he's always getting in new girls. He lied to me. He didn't lie if you actually got on the plane, he just didn't tell you the truth. This motherfucker! Don't sweat it baby girl make your money and move on. I left my home and a shitty job for another shitty job. Well at least you don't have to pay rent here. Huh! You don't have to pay rent, didn't Nicoli tell you the arrangement. Apparently, not if I am asking. Ok one kill the attitude or your stay at the ranch won't be very pleasant and two all of the girls stay at the ranch it makes it easier for yall to work without the commute. We all live there at this ranch place. Nicoli really didn't tell you anything about the ranch? Nope he just offered me the job to get the girls together. Well just sit back and enjoy the ride to your new place of employment.
I should have known that everything Nicoli said wasn't right, how the hell you just meet a random female at a strip club and offer her a job across the country. After that day at lunch, he called a few times to make sure I was getting everything that I needed as far as the tickets and the money for my family to get here, but when it started to take longer than he thought his tune changed, it all the sudden went from cordial and sweet to demanding and rude. He wasn't talking all that shit when he was recruiting me to come to his little funky strip club in the beginning nor was, he that way when he had me risking my life to get more stuff from Ricky either. I didn't completely leave Ricky's club unscathed, I thought back as I touched the faint scare on my neck. In fact, before I left, I had an encounter that I'll never forget, it showed me that maybe I wasn't as bad as I originally thought.
"Fuck where did he hide this shit at, I mumbled quickly going through the drawers in the desk. Nicoli had asked me to find some paperwork that Rickey was supposed to send over to him but never did. Now he got me risking my damn life looking for it. I'd just gotten to the last drawer when I heard someone coming down the hall. Shit I quickly closed the drawer and hid in the closet place I could find which was behind this random ass closet he had in his office. I'd never noticed that it was there, probably because I never spent too much time in his office either. I cracked the door so I could see but he couldn't see me.
