I let out a deep breath before taking the stage. I wasn't even supposed to dance but they were short on girls, so they asked if I wanted to do it. I didn't need to do it, I made more than enough money working in the VIP area, but this would guarantee that I have money to pay for my last year of college and get me set up after. You got this girl, don't worry about it, Amethyst said to me. What if I fall? You won't fall as long as you don't do no, shit you not capable of. Just do what we taught you, lots of floor work and less pole work. And if all else fells pick a spot at the bar and focus on it. The bar, that's far from the stage. Exactly, then you don't have make eye contact with anyone and Emerald's back there tonight helping Phoenix. I thought she was dancing to? Not tonight. You got this ok, I gotta get back up to the VIP suites, it'll be a quick 10 minutes then you get your money and come back up there with me. Ok I said nodding. And whatever you do don't take no shots from anyone she said looking over her shoulder at Rocci laughing with Onyx. When did they become best friends? I don't know but I don't trust them. I am surprised she's back to dancing so soon after her run in with Emerald. She got medical bills she gotta pay now she said chuckling. Nicoli didn't make Emerald pay that? Girl please Nicoli don't tell Emerald nothing after she stabbed him, she could blow up this whole place and he'd just pretend like he didn't know what happened and call the insurance company. Who is he more afraid of Emerald or Rocci? Good question my money is on Emerald she said laughing before she left the room.

I looked at myself in the mirror one last time before I fixing my hair and walking towards the stage. I never imagined when I left Philadelphia that I'd end up here, dancing in a club for money. Then again, I never thought I'd be free either. I just knew my father or rather the man who raised me would come and snatch me up and have me back in Philadelphia working at the grocery store or something. But he didn't the last time I saw that man he was telling me I should be grateful for everything that he did for me. That without him I'd be nothing. For a long time, I believed that, and I settled for it until I let that bullshit go and started looking out for myself and my brother. Speaking of which the graduated from high school and did exactly what he said he was going to do and that' go into the military. I flew out to see his graduation from bootcamp and let him know how proud I am of him and that he had my full support on anything that he wanted to do in life short of being a drug dealer or a pimp. His big head is in Germany now going to air force school.

This wasn't my first-time dancing in the Bunny room, I'd danced like 2 times before on the smaller stages for some lower level VIP clients, but I'd never once been on the big stage. Not any girl could grace this stage, you had to have the blessing of not only Nicoli but Diamond as well. She said she couldn't just have anyone on the stage, only heavy hitters and money makers were on this stage. And tonight, I was expecting to be both. I said a quick prayer to myself before hearing my music start and walking out on stage. Thank God, the room was semi dark, I could still see people's faces, but it wasn't like walking into a bright ass room either. I did exactly what Amethyst told me to do, don't focus on people's faces and don't do some shit that would cause me to get hurt either. Before I knew it the music had stopped, and people were clapping, and money was all over the stage. I grabbed my hat while the guys collected the hat and walked off the stage. Well congratulations Mariposa, I had no clue you had all of that in you, Rocci said walking up to me. Thanks! Don't be humble now, you got all the niggas dicks on hard right now and you back here like you didn't just do the damn thing. You don't have to blow my head up Rocci I did alright. True you ain't me, hell you even ain't Sapphires non dancing ass but you're good. Very good. I may have a job for you. A job! This is our job, I said looking around. It's a better job than this I can guarantee you more money. Rocci, why don't you slither away and leave that girl alone. As soon as she heard Diamond's voice, she rolled her eyes. If you're interested let me know she said winking at me before walking off.
