I slid my phone in my back pocket before grabbing my camera bag and making my way into the building. Hi, how can I help you? Yeah, I am Bela I am here to do the pictures. As I told Vante I've been getting more and more photography business today I am at this local real estate company to do their head shots. You're the photographer. I am sorry I didn't mean to insult you, oh god let me just shut up she said shaking her head. It's ok, most folks aren't used to seeing a pretty girl doing photography, I am used to it. Right this way she said showing me the way to the conference room where they were waiting for me to take their pictures. I wasn't expecting to walk into a room full of women! Beautiful black women dressed to the nine at that. Bela! Yes, I am Bela, Hi I am Charlene, I was the one that called you. Oh, I am sorry I was shocked to see all of these black women in one room. Girl who you telling you know how hard it is for a black woman to start a business, much less a real estate business. How did yall get into real estate? Now that's a long story we can talk after the shoot she said smiling before showing me where I could set up at. It didn't take long for me to set up my equipment and start taking the pictures. Each of the women had a different specialty and area of Las Vegas they served. I met a couple that worked in my subdivision as well and told me how lucky I was to get a house in that area given that we weren't white. I didn't think about it that much, but we didn't really have a lot of diversity in our neighborhood and when we did see our neighbors, they gave us these cautious smiles as if we were going to snatch them up or something. When I was done, they invited me to join them for their luncheon they were having. I didn't want to impose but they were persistent and wouldn't take no for an answer. Who was I to turn down a free meal, so I sat off to the side while they presented their information to one another?

That's what I like to hear, there are a lot of real estate agents in Vegas, but none of them will treat you as well as we will. I can see that, and I did have a question for you? What's that? How does one break into real estate, I know there are licenses and stuff, but what is the first step? I would recommend you get a mentor in the field, someone that can really show you the ropes of the industry. It's cutthroat and not everyone you work with is your friend. That's all industries I said smiling. Very true but in real estate it can get dangerous sometimes. I'll keep that in mind, I was mentioning to my boyfriend how I wanted to get into some different things, photography was one and real estate was the other. It's a very lucrative business, but as I said, it be can dangerous, especially here in Vegas, it's not just the other agents you have to worry about, you also have to worry about the underworld as well. Underworld! Surely, you've seen movies about Vegas, its Mafia and Mob central, some folks prefer living in opulence in the middle of the city, while others hide out in the desert. The desert huh!
