The hype inside our locker room was still filled with energy, excitement and joy hanging above over us that we had on the field until now. Coach Richard couldn't stop smiling just as much as the rest of us were, but he spoke in a serious tone when he told us not to celebrate too much and that the work to winning this year's season is still far ahead.
Right after, Jace invited everyone to a party at the beach house that his parents own who were on holiday in Europe for three months. The guys were chanting the team's name as they walked out of the room, before walking out of the building, I caught something from the corner of my eye. A KAU cheerleader dressed in black, red and gold was standing tall in the face of a silver and purple dressed Pierce College cheerleader, the two were in the middle of a heated argument that I was drawn to.
The KAU cheerleader was Stephanie with her blonde and hot red strips tied up into a high bun speaking to Chelsea in a way that she would always speak to me which wasn't a good thing. As I was walking closer to where they were standing, I caught pieces of their conversation, "Your team is just as bad as your cheerleading is."
Coldly Stephanie's remarks before Chelsea firing back fearlessly, "Comparing one bad game to my squad's cheerleading is like comparing trash with class. And from where I'm standing you're below both of those things."
Ohh, nice. I'm happy that another thing haven't changed about Chelsea, her sharp, fatal wit hadn't faded from her personality. None of the Queen Bee's from high school could ever insult or bring her down without getting cut and chopped by my best friend's quick, razor-sharp words. Many could try, and many would fail, every time.
Stephanie holding herself from revealing how much damage my friend had done on her ego, yet she held firm and threw a line that turn my stomach over, "At least I'm not your kind of cheerleader, being allowed to be part of any squad, because having zero till three colourful trophies to make the squad cultured."
I know that what was said wasn't being directly aimed at me, but I felt the anger and disgust feeling that it brought. And so did Chelsea, I saw how tightly fasted her fists became and she would have punched Stephanie for what she had said.
Which I wouldn't have blamed her nor would I turn my back on her if she got into trouble. But to keep that from happening, I quickly stepped in, "Steph, had anyone ever told you how beautifully exhausting you are?"
Stephanie turned to face me, becoming even more annoyed while my best friend burn fiery at the back of her blonde and hot red stripped hair. Giving me the slow elevator look of personal disapproval, "You're not included to this conversation, Jennifer and nobody wants you to be."
"Well, nobody wants you to be in the same air that they breathe in, yet you always makes a way." I shot back which I caught Chelsea's eyes shifted towards me widen in surprise and a slight amazement for my comeback.
In that short moment, I was more than happy to see that I brought some joy to her and not one of her cheerleader friends. Yeah, I'm still jealous and don't care, she's my friend. . . too. "Look, I get that you feel the need to be in everyone's space, but we all like our own space and don't like having drainers around."
Rolling her grey blue eyes while Chelsea bit her lips from keeping her laughter away. Before Stephanie was about to say anything that can defend and redeemed herself and ego, I faked a yawn and stretched my arms over my head, "Well, this was boring, but me and my best friend here wants to be with people who are actually interesting, fun and wanted by us."
Gently grabbing my friend's hand who surprised me by letting me, as well as allowed me to walk us out of the hallway before raising a middle finger in the air for Stephanie before saying, "Ciao."
