The first week of the tournament had gone as you would have expected. High energy, exciting moments, and everything moving almost at lightning speed. This feeling is so intoxicating that you would wake up, thrilled to see the next day.
The matches on Monday till Wednesday were Thunderdogs and Red Bulls beat LA Sharks and Razorbacks. The fast-paced and plot twists made the matches unforgettable and unexpected. Causing you to want to see more.
On Thursday and Friday, Triton and Golden Trouts' matches against Blue Panthers and Mighty Shrimps were a nail-biter.
After the full-time whistle blew, the scoreboard was zero or one all. Having the teams go into extra time before settling for penalties. And on the morning of our match against the Bobcats was far different. Nearly everyone seemed besides themselves. Despite it being scheduled at three thirty in the afternoon, it was like we were about to play every five seconds.
During the training and team proportion for the match, it felt like people were walking on eggshells. Players who are known to be the calmest, coolest, and level-headed were running around like headless chickens. Making small, silly mistakes that you would never expect from them.
And that energy was rubbing off the B squad. They were looking around anxious, nervous, and not thinking straight. By the time Coach Richard said that we could get ready, I've never felt relieved for a training session to end before. And that was a big warning sign for me.
I was reading through the college website that the Bobcats play for. Reading how the campus is focused on business, economic, and biological studies. Looks like this team is one of their sports teams that are the major attractions for the campus.
Sitting on the bottom bench close to the hallway that leads to the changing rooms are. Where my team were, shaking in their boots. Couldn't stand being in the room with the kind of atmosphere floating around.
A small, soft nudge on my shoulder before sitting down next to me, "Studying the enemy, are we, Bumblebee?"
Flashing him a greeting smile as I leaned back in my seat. Lefting my eyes to the field, watching a few players dressed in yellow, silver, and navy blue, "How much do you know about them?"
Understanding what I was asking, Tenzin walked past me. Sitting down on a seat, moving near, pointing towards the field, "Number sixteen is the fastest player that 'Cats' have in their midfield. When he finds space, he will run through defense and score. Number twenty-eight is known as 'the wall' in their defense. Guy can spot and stop any play coming towards their goalpost."
Looking around to make sure no one was listening, "But he hates headers, never liked high balls. So, remember that when you try to go past him."
Nodding my head as my eyes shifted to the goalpost. Where three players were practicing their shooting with the keeper, "What about them? And how good is the keeper?"
Scoffing as Tenzin watched with me, "He's as good as Ryan, that's for sure. Guy will jump and dive for any ball that comes his way."
Then, he pointed at the three players, "And the three strikers hardly crack under pressure or miss. Number thirteen, fifty eight, and three are the ones who are on Premier League strikers' levels. So, you guys have to dig very deep and hard to keep the ball away from their feet."
