Usually, whenever I'm on my shift at the bookstore, I'm the happiest and most energetic employee throughout the day. But after how things went down at dinner by David's house, I'm not my usual working self.

I have an expression that makes the theme of a 'rest b' face seem like a kid's plaything. I would smile and do what's needed of me and go back to looking like a grumpy villain. Even Mr. Oliver looked almost worried about approaching me half of the time of my shift. And honestly, I ain't proud of it.

I've tried to shake it off, everything that leads me to think about last night and a certain someone, but it's hard. Especially when Penny keeps asking me what happened since last night. Why I'm not speaking to you know who and why I was hell bend upset with him?

Call me a child or whatever, but after what happened and his reaction to my home videos, I'm not gonna talk to him at all. He can beg over broken glasses and thorns for all I care. But I refuse to socialize with him. And I wouldn't care if that manages to hurt his feelings.

Yeah, I know that I don't sound convincing enough to go through it. But let me live in my lie for the day, alright?

"Gianna, Nolan, and Jennifer," Mr. Oliver called for our attention, which we all gave. All three of us looked up from the front desk, "I will be leaving early for my granddaughter's christening today. So, Nolan will be in charge of the rest of today until closing. I hope that you three will manage to keep my store standing in one piece while I'm gone."

Mr. Oliver always makes a joke about us being unable to work together without wanting to kill each other. A Dad jokes that he always makes whenever he leaves the bookstore into our care.

Especially when it comes to having either Gianna or Nolan in charge. Knowing that these two would do nearly anything to get on our boss' good side to get the manager title.

Nodding his head with a peal of forceful laughter, Nolan said confidently, "Don't worry, Mr. Oliver, I'll make sure to keep things running smoothly while you're gone."

"And I'll be the one who will be cleaning up whatever mess that Nolan ends up making," Gianna said with venom in her words before the two narrowed their glances at each other.

Last month, Gianna was left in charge, which led to Nolan being salty about it. And now, the roles have switched between the two. It's so crazy how these two don't always like working together.

This was causing Mr. Oliver, to become worried, and might have been thinking if he should leave or not. But before he could change his mind, I caught him saying, "Don't worry, Mr. Oliver, I'll make sure that these two don't kill each other before our shift ends."

That reassures him enough to finally grab his bag and make his way toward the door. Waving goodbye to us as he was opening the door. That's when both Gianna and Nolan finally turned away from each to say charmingly, "Enjoy the christening, Mr. Oliver."

Smiling back at the three of us, making way for a tall, curly-headed guy dressed in a leather jacket and white All-Stars, "Afternoon."

"Good afternoon, Mr. Oliver," David greeted kindly with some charm as he walked into the store and held the door for the owner.

I haven't seen or spoken to him since last night. Even when I was with the gang for breakfast, he was nowhere to be seen. Guess that was my luck for the day.

Made his way toward the front desk, his green eyes locked with mine. The last time I stared into those eyes, they were burning with anger. Now, they were calm and filled with happiness. Walking towards us with so much confidence and swagger that girls fall over all the time on campus.
