"Alright, Penny, here's the last outfit that I could come up with." I said while walking out of the bathroom. Dressed in a white ruffle off the shoulder crop top, a light denim jeans with my All-Stars high heels sneakers.
Which is the seventh outfit that I've put on tonight. Six previous outfits wasn't good enough or gorgeous enough for Penny's approval. Tonight, she made it her mission that I step out of this room in an outfit that screams 'knockout'.
Now that she, Charlie, and Ryan know that David and I are an item and being lowkey about it, things have kinda gotten a bit easier.
Before we had to come up with all kinds of lies, cover stories to keep them in the dark.Until now, after they admitted to going around, finding out who 'mystery guy' is and haven't gotten anywhere.
And telling them that it's David, there's no need to lie to them anymore. And the best part about them knowing is that they help us with the others. Covering for us and acting that things are normal.
Looking up from the desk, taking her time taking every detail of number seven. As her eyes roll over my outfit, I was silently praying that she doesn't use her famous words, 'What else do you got?'
Standing up to flawlessly loosen my ponytail and letting my hair fall down my shoulders, "There, perfect."
Sighing in relief that I don't have to hunt for another outfit. Brushing my hair and making a path on the side through. Standing in front of the bathroom's mirror, putting some hair clips in place when the lights snapped off.
"What the heck?!" Penny excluded frustratedly before flashing her phone's light towards me. Even in the dark, her stress could be seen from a mile, "Don't tell me that the university forgot to pay the electricity bill? You know, with the money that our parents are paying them for our studying and courses?!"
If the lights were on right now, I would have noticed the eye twitching that my roommate had. An extremely stressed out Penny is one no one wants to mess around with.
"I'm sure that there's a good explanation for the lights went out." I said, trying to keep her calm and level-headed. This worked for ten seconds when our phones notified us of the worst news ever.
"A blackout?!" We both were confused and shocked by this. I was hoping that we weren't gonna get them anymore, but clearly, I was wrong.
This was something that had become slightly annoying when it first started. It's ironic that this blackout happened the same year that I was born. It's a fact that I don't like, nor do I like telling people.
That's when Peyton started pacing, biting her nails, "There's a blackout that can last for an hour or more because of the extreme temperature today. It's eight, fifty-five, and my paper is at nine tomorrow morning. I was supposed to study until nine thirty and I've only studied half of what's going to be in the paper. How am I supposed to study in a freaking blackout?!"
"I can get some candles and a flashlight from my house." I assured her, already holding my car keys in my hand. I took the flashlight that Rebecca packed in for me months ago. Who would have thought that it would come in handy, "And while I'm gone, you can use your phone's flashlight."
I nearly bit my tongue for mentioning the phone's flashlight, which decided to switch off instantly. The bottom lip of Penny started whimping, and her eyes started to become watery. "My phone died."
Before trying to calm her down, there was a knock on our room's door. David and Ryan walk in with candles and a big flashlight, "You ladies called."
With one mind, both Penny and I nearly ran into them. We were grateful that they were here with candles and light. Wrapping our arms around their waist and burying our faces into their chests.
