Chapter16: Dancing with a McLellan (Part 2)

Suddenly all of the stress, nervous and anxiety that was running through my body vanished. By shock and surprise that I couldn't find it in myself to be irritated for David calling me by that name in front of both Mrs Robertson and Julie.

My mind was in a stand-still and I don't know who I should be looking at, Julie, Mrs Robertson or David.

When I turned to Dylan, his face was something that I've never seen before blank expression. His eyes were like two fire balls staring at his brother while holding onto his chair arms tightly that it might break.

Mrs Robertson's voice took my attention solely on her, "David had called me a few minutes after Julie and I have ended today's practise, offering his service to be a partner in a duet."

Call me crazy or something, but in some way Mrs Robertson sounded like she was proud that David was offering to be part of Sapphire for one night to dance in front of a whole hall filled of people.

Even the way she was glancing between David and myself, her facial expression was like what every parent would wear. That they would think about the road that their children or kid had gone through before becoming successful.

"Both Julie and I are aware of the sort time that is given for you and David. And if this is too much to handle, then Jennifer, you can decide not to do the duet or can be willing to take a risk."

This would be the first time that I would be dancing with David instead of dancing against him like I've done at our dance battle.
I know that he's a good dancer, a great one even and seem to be capable to take on the chance of learning a choreography in less than three days.

Turning to David who was watching me with a blank expression yet his eyes were filled with worry and hope.

So, I crossed my arms lightly with a smirk of my own, "You think you can handle being my dance partner, Dave? Especially since this isn't another dance battle?"

His smirk grew back onto his face which caused my body to become surprisingly happy in some way that I couldn't understand why, "Too bad, it would have been a great show for everyone to watch at Spotlight. A show worth watching." Yeah, it would have been a real show worth seeing.

I nodded with a small smile before turning back to Mrs Robertson who was watching our interaction with a smile like she was happy for us, "I think this is a risk worth taking, Mrs Robertson."

Dylan seemed to be deep in thought during most of the time, but nodded his head none the less before Mrs Robertson spoke again, "Well then, you all are free to leave. Dylan, I wish you a speeding recovery, Jennifer and David, may you both practise well and I know that Saturday, you both will surprise us all."

Nodding our heads in greeting while I gave Julie a sweet hug before walking out of the room as David opened the door for me. Still holding the small brown bag of pain killers from Becca.

Taking one pill from the two that doesn't let me fall asleep with my water before turning to David, "Our first practise should start today, there's no way I'm gonna waste these extra hours until we're down to two days left."

"What's the rush, Ariel?" David asked in a chilled tone while my brain was overlooking the whole choreography to see what I have to cut out or go through with him to make everything easy.

Since I hate losing at anything as much as the next person does, the last thing that I want is for Stephanie singing praises for my downfall of today. "We have three days before Saturday."

"Which doesn't make anything easier for anyone at this point." I said, looking at the time on my phone to see that it's four thirty.
Which isn't much to work with if mine and Dylan's dance is between ten and fifteen minutes at least from the last time we timed ourselves on our last practise. "Will you be in your dorm room later?"
