Chapter 34 : Secretteokry Kwon

(Flashback from Chapter 29 – Day 1 Tteok Tokki v Min Bouche)

"... Because I'm here with her, always has and always will."

"... I'm going to propose to her, officially asking her out."

*Clang*

The innocent remote control was instantly destroyed by Principal Kim in a fit of rage, "Kim Yong Sun... Is this what you've been up to lately?" he thought to himself before pressing the speed-dial on the phone next to him.

One, two beeps went off before it was answered, "Yes, Principal. How can I help you?"

"Secretary Kwon... Come to my office. Now!" He instructed. The latter gave a simple reply and entered his office in a matter of seconds. Without saying a word, Principal Kim pointed to the television, that's airing day one of the cook-off.

Secretary Kwon took a glimpse of it and bowed, "Sir, they've been together since-" forfeiting his chance to explain, Principal Kim threw the broken remote at his head, causing him to stumble down at the impact.

"You knew and you didn't fucking tell me?!"

"I-I'm sorry, sir, I-"

"When are you going to tell me about this? After their wedding? What did I tell you about reporting every single detail about my granddaughters? Hah?" he bellowed, stepping on Secretary Kwon's hand as if he's extinguishing a cigarette on the floor. Secretary Kwon trembled in fear while enduring the pain, knowing if he showed any sign of his weakness, the torture would only get worse.

Minutes that felt like an eternity passed and he lifted his foot while Secretary Kwon is still kneeling on the floor with his head down, "tell me everything... And don't you dare miss a single thing out!" he ordered.

Secretary Kwon quickly spring right up on his feet and explained, "Yong-Sun agasshi has been tutoring Byulyi hak seng after school. They became very close recently, even going on dates. I thought it's just a date between teacher and student spending quality time together, not romantically..."

Principal Kim glared at him as if to say, "you thought?". He noticed the deathly stare and averted any eye contact while further disclosing, "Lately, there's a competition between Byulyi hak seng and a 3 Michelin Star chef, Nam Goong Min. They both had a bet if she loses, she'll marry him and if she wins, she'll be free to date Yong-Sun agass-"

"Says WHO?!" Principal Kim scoffed, "Secretary Kwon... I don't care how you do it, but I want you to clean up this mess, do you hear me? Make sure she loses this competition!"

"Yes, sir. I'll take care of it right away." Secretary Kwon acknowledges with a bow and left the office in a hurry.

He then gathered a few men and scouted the area where the food-truck are situated, while waiting for the right opportunity when the coast is clear for them to sabotage. Seeing how it was heavily guarded by officers dispatched by Superintendent Son, he had no choice but to make a diversion. After giving hand signals to his men, they nod to affirm and spring into action.

Two men emerged from the bushes and started fighting each other to draw the attention of nearby officers. Once the officers have completely steered away from the food trucks, he quickly motioned his men to trash the place. Witnessing how they ransack the place, hits close to his home, reminding him of his past filled with dark days.

Most household are filled with love and warmth, which Secretary Kwon is not familiar with. Every waking hour of his life are often filled with terror – inside the house he's raised by abusive parents, outside the house awaits debt collectors who are ready to harvest his organs when he's older to settle the gambling debt of his parents.
