Midnight placed a hand on my waist as soon as I approached him and gave me a gentle kiss on the cheek. Diablo around me hissed playfully, happy to see its master. Sandaling lumipat sakanya ang atensyon ni Midnight bago uli ito napunta saakin. "You're here"

"I'm here" I told him. Reassured him. My eyes lingered over his face and body, the fix of his dark hair, the eerie shine of his crimson gaze, the power and grace of his stance. It was too late for me to realize I reached to cup his cheek until Midnight leaned into my touch and grinned menacingly. With little force, I squeezed his face, caressing his neck down to the broadness of his shoulder. "My sweet demon"

He raised a single brow at the endearment I used, "My love"

My smile grew. That. That was what I was dying to hear again after days of blood and battle. "I have stories to tell you but I have a feeling you've already known"

"I know nothing" he said while subtly shaking his head. "You can tell me everything about it after tonight's meeting"

"Such a liar. But fine"

"You can't throw such assumptions without concrete evidence, love" the sarcasm in his voice gave me the very urge to shove my hand deep down his throat but since he looked intimidatingly handsome and gorgeous and fuck-able tonight, I'd want to keep his mouth and tongue intact.

Midnight was wearing all-black royal clothes just like the rest of us—- kagaya ng inutos niyang gawin naming lahat. His long dark jacket had a darker pattern of a snake stitched on either side of its lapel. All buttons open in order to show the dress shirt and the vest underneath. His dark hair was pushed back from his forehead and I couldn't stop staring ever since. I have always loved it when he wears his hair like that. Maybe because the red gleam of his eyes would be emphasized more this way. He looked the least approachable but the most powerful and regal among the rest.

"Sigurado ka bang may oras pa tayo para magchismisan pagkatapos ng gabing ito?" Tanong ko sakanya.

"I'll make time. I'll do something just for you to have all the time to share what you're excited to tell me. It'll be a shame not to have to hear what my wife has to say after days of being away from each other"

Simphia. This demon.

Nanggigigil ako. Hindi dahil sa inis o galit. Nanggigigil ako sa kilig.

And it was frustrating because I shouldn't be this happy while war was still around the corner.

I leaned closer until my lips touched his chest. I craned back my neck to give him a look after. I gave him the softest smile I could express before shifting my attention to the audience behind him, waiting for us to finish. The softness of my expression vanished and I abandoned any emotion lingering around the edges of my eyes. Isa isa kong binigyan pansin sina Cayden, Zarax, Killian, Tartarus, Vlad, Day, at Dhar. I've missed them but I wouldn't tell them that. The ongoing war made me realize a lot of things and being away from them—- even just for a few days or weeks made me more anxious than I could let on.

The whole group exchanged inside jokes and sarcasm as a way of greeting. Ngunit ng makita nila si Kaimana, na halos buong katawan ay nakabalot sa bandage ay halatang halata sa mga pagmumukha nila ang kagustuhan magtanong kung ano ang nangyare dito. But since we were inside a room where prying eyes and ears were present, we refused to give out any information that might be useful for them.

I've seen the way Cayden looked at her. The way he unconsciously walked to her side and stared a little longer at the parts of her that had been wounded with an arch of a brow. The mortal king then gave me a confused look as though he himself wasn't certain how to react when he didn't really have to do one in the first place. Kaimana paid him no heed and causally greeted him like usual. Cayden's brows reached each other, he was more confused now for some reason. Kami naman ang nagkatinginan ni Midnight pagkatapos.
