19: Coffee

"Alam mo, pinaghirapan kong huliin si Gluttony tapos ano? Nasaan na ang premyo ko?" Supladong tanong saakin ni Cayden dito sa hapag kainan. Umagang umaga, nagawa niya talagang bumyahe dito para lang sa premyo niya daw na hindi pa binibigay ni Midnight. Sumimsim siya sakanyang kape sabay ayos sa punyos ng kanyang mamahaling damit. "I'm actually stressed with everything and getting an actual reward from someone will be nice"

If he wanted to complain, he could've went straight to Midnight. But of course no one would do such a dangerous thing in the first place. Kumuha si Cayden ng dalawang sugar cubes at tyaka nilagay ito sa kape niya. Bigla tuloy akong na-curious. Masarap ba ang kape? I never had one. Or if I did have one, I never remembered the taste. "Me? Walang gagawin?" He sniggered, "Wish ko lang din. I have a lot of pending works to do back in Lapetus, and may I remind you that I actually did make time for this. I better be having that reward"

"And get my head decapitated? Give me better suggestions, dear"

I looked up through my lashes. Bored of his shit. "You think I won't snap your neck myself for being a nuisance early this morning?"

Cayden's grin was frisky as he sipped on his sweetened coffee. "Oh, there's no denying you will. But I know you won't"

"Bulagin ko na lang kaya isang mata mo?"

Natawa siya. "Yes. Yes. Tatahimik na"

"King Cayden," Nanyelo kaagad si Cayden ng marinig ang maawtoridad na boses ni Midnight habang ako naman ay patuloy parin sa pagkakain. Though, I secretly grinned at the familiar cold, intense, gut-wrenching presence of the Demon King. I didn't even need to turn to know it was him who teleported behind, taking the chair beside me. "May problema ba?"

Tumikhim si Cayden sabay tayo ng maayos para mag bigay galang sa kapwa hari. He bent his waist forward, all friskiness gone. I could laugh. "Your Majesty, apology for my sudden visit but yes, I do believe we have some unfinished business we are yet to discuss"

Midnight hummed unenthusiastically just as when the shadow demons appeared to serve him his breakfast. Apparently, it was... coffee. I pressed my lips together. Midnight stirred the dark thing. "Iyong premyo mo?"

Umupo na uli si Cayden, malaki na ang ngisi sa pagmumukha. Tumango tango ito. "So we're discussing this now?"

"The door's open if you wish to go home"

"I am very excited," Cayden said, "Congratulations nga pala para sa paparating na kasal"

Midnight dumped three sugar cubes and poured milk into his coffee, stirring them again. "You're quite the loquacious type. Have you gotten your tongue cut off before?"

Yung tawa ni Cayden, tawang kinakabahan. Gusto ko tuloy matawa na ewan. Cayden was always been quoted as the wicked one. Seeing him recoiling from Midnight was entertainment for me. Umiling iling na lamang ako, ngunit napatigil 'rin ng biglang iusog ni Midnight ang kape niya saakin.
