Chapter 35: Tournament

A month has passed since the James situation, and many things have happened during this time. Edward officially started dating Bella. On their first date, which was to some restaurant, she put enough of the pieces together about their secret. She confronted him about her findings, which were substantial enough that he confirmed it. Most the family was fine with Edward telling her now that James was gone, but Ivar told me that Ed was reminded of the law again before he told her. Eddy genuinely has fallen in love with her, and when I talk to Bella, I can see she has too. She did come to me again with her suspicions beforehand, and was upset with me after.

I took Bella out for a walk and had a heart to heart soon after she found out about the vamps. She was upset I knew and didn't tell her, but I explained firmly that it wasn't my right to tell their secret, and it was not her right to know it without being told by them. I explained about the laws a little bit to her, which Edward had not done yet. Thankfully, she was calm about hearing them. She was already very much in love, and felt a strong connection with him. 

I was also happy to see Bella having a good friendship still with Angela, she's even gone to her house a few times. Alice also has easily claimed Bella as a best friend. They get along well enough, Alice usually taking charge and bossing Bella around playing dress up, but Bella has a genuine, albeit small, smile on while it happens. I started to also subtly push for a friendship between her and Jake, a few times inviting the Black's up for dinner. I'm slightly just doing it to be an ass.

After my meeting with the wolves, I was proven right about Jared's imprint when he finally met Kim as a wolf. I was also asked to come and meet the elders after that. They had heard only that I knew what they were, and just wanted to make sure I didn't tell anyone. They, particularly Billy, were actually curious on how I can be close to the vampires. I reminded them that I'm a mate, and also started in on my mentality lecture I gave the pack. Since Billy and Harry have actually been around the good vamps, they were open to listening. Old Quil wasn't as much, but oh well can't win them all.

Another thing that happened is that I decided on where I'm going to school. I debated back and forth with Ivar for a while, but ultimately I decided to go to University of Oregon, at least for the first year. I don't want to risk living in Seattle while a potential newborn army is being built, no matter how gorgeous this one penthouse I found was. Ivar supports this idea, but he even wants me in school in Europe, far away from Victoria. I told him I still wanted to be close enough to see my friends occasionally, and still be near the main story area. We made plans to visit at least once a month, more often if needed.

What came as a surprise to me was that Jasper was planning to join us at college. He had applied to the same schools as me, and wanted to try for a bit of independence, as a test of his self-control. When I asked him about Alice, he said he plans to meet her every weekend, either at a halfway point or one of them going to the other. Since Alice will still have another year of high school left, this created a good testing opportunity for Jasper. He feels very comfortable around me, so he thinks it will aid in his college time and help his bloodlust without the safety of his family and mate.

It's now late April, and Alan and I are on our way to the Nationals tournament. It will be a two-day event, with preliminaries on the first day and finals the second. I have morally argued with myself for the last month on my participation in this. On one hand I'm a human and can fairly compete, but on the other hand I have so much more experience it doesn't seem fair at all. In the end, I decided to compete. I'm only going to do this once here, might as well get a trophy.

I rented a large vacation house for us to stay in. It has 7 bedrooms, so enough room for all the Knights, Charlie, Ivar and my boys, who thankfully are able to come. The twins' parent's insisted on taking everyone out to celebratory dinners and cooking all our meals while there since I got the house.
