~ Ivar POV , start of battle~

"NO! You killed my brother!! You all die now! Attack!" Vidar suddenly calls out, and everyone starts to attack.

What just happened to him? Vidar's whole demeanor changed so quickly just now.

I cannot believe this man is my older brother. I can't remember much, but now that I see him, vague memories of having a brother are returning to me. The one most prominent memory though, is that he died long before the great battles that killed father and myself. So how is here now?

"Someone's gift made them attack!" I hear my mate's voice call out before the enemy reaches us. I try to scan around, seeing if I can spot the one who caused the change, but there's just too much chaos. Aria is a clever one, I'm sure she will find who she warned us about together with her brother.

I make my way through the enemies, but my target is my brother. When a newborn or immortal child gets in my way, I destroy them. However, I try to avoid killing anyone who looks to be from the Russian coven, at least where I can. Jasper joins me often in attacking, and I have Marcus by my side.

Though Marcus may have long since lost most his will to live, he was still a terrifying god on a battlefield. I learned much from him in my years staying with him. Jasper and I had worked out a plan to use his gift to invoke an adrenaline-like effect on the king, to keep Marcus strong as well as focused. Once he is like that, he is near unstoppable.

As we work our way through, I can hear the distinct sound of Jay's explosions, and can only assume that Aria is with him like they prepared to be. They are far from me, and I can feel my mind start to wonder about her safety before I remind myself she is far more powerful than I give her credit for, and that she will be fine. Knowing her, she is likely grinning during the fighting.

I finally make my way to Vidar, who is fighting alongside the Romanian brothers.

"Brother, stop this. You have been used." I try to tell him firmly as he turns quickly to me.

"How are you alive?" He asks in confusion, freezing in his movements and looking as if he's seen a ghost. "I watched them kill you just now! This is a trick!" He gets mad instantly, his eyes narrowing on Marcus.

"No brother, the Romanian's have fooled you. My mate spotted them using a gift on you. I never died." I try to tell him as he lunges and attacks Marcus. I hear Vladimir sneering and Stefan is smirking at me.

"Ah, Ivar. How nice to see you again." Stefan says with a sneer as I go in to attack him. "Imagine our surprise when we met your dear brother here last year, alive and well." He taunts and dodges my attacks.

"Yes, so sad you had to meet on the battlefield as enemies." Vladimir sarcastically adds, landing a hit on Jasper, who is knocked back and lands near me. I help him back up, my thoughts focusing back on my brother, trying to get him to see reason.

"Vidar, I am real, I can prove it." I call out to Vidar where he's fighting Marcus. My mind is flooding with memories of him now. "Mother used to sing us to sleep, her old nursery songs. You would always want me to sing along, you liked my voice. So I did, I sang for you as we were boys, and continued to sing those songs until your own son was born. I don't remember much of my human life, but I know it was you who I sang for. Vidar, please, listen to me." I beg of him, and I see him hesitating.

"My son... No one could know that." Vidar stares at me in disbelief, then his eyes narrow in concentration, focusing on my features, really looking at me. Marcus notices what's going on and changes to fighting Vladimir while Jasper is with Stefan. "My brother was great at singing, but thought his time better spent practicing bow with mother. He was a shy boy...." He says idly.
