Over the next week we took daily trips out all together to slowly be around humans more. To avoid them seeing our eyes, we just wore dark sunglasses. It's not sunny, but it's been light enough lately out we don't stand out wearing them. Jay and I have been calming down lately as we approach being three months old. We can handle walking outside with humans while breathing now. Ivar and Jasper had us taking baby steps to get to this point, starting with nearly empty streets until we worked our way back to the parking lots on a weekend, only with walking instead of speeding through on a bike.

Next step is being inside with a human. I was feeling ready, and Ivar and Jas both agreed, a short visit with Charlie would be good. We timed it with Bella, she would call and ask him to come over after he was at our house for a half hour, giving us a manageable set time to focus on. Emmett and Alice would both be on hand in the house, just in case.

"Ok, here are each of your contacts. They sting while in, and will evaporate in a few hours." Alice says, handing us the lenses just before Charlie is due to arrive.

We put them in, and Alice was right, they sucked. I glance at Jay, his eyes look like a muddy but passable green. They really look closer to brown at this point contrasting with his orange eyes. We haven't lost the red tone quite yet.

"Um, I don't think yours worked sis." Jay says while looking at me. I run to the bathroom to take a look, and he's right. The orange and grey just made a darker orange color.

"Alice? What do I do?" I ask her urgently, hearing a car pull up.

"I got a cosplay pair of silver ones. It might work. Put them on over the grey ones. It will be more uncomfortable, but it should be strong enough." She says, handing me a new pair. I put them in quickly, checking the mirror.

"Close enough." I say. The muddy orange tint is still slightly there, but at least it tones down the artificial silver color. I hear the tires stop outside and the car door.

I turn to the boys, who now look about like two year old's and are getting smarter every day. I have them dressed in matching white shirts and Carhartt shorts. I can't help it, I see twins, I want them to match, and they look so adorable together.

"Ok boys, just like we talked about. No using your gifts, only say small words, and be very, very gentle with Grandpa Charlie. You are much stronger than him." I say to my sons as I hear Charlie knock and Ivar goes to answer the door. I scoop up Calder in my arms, focusing on his scent and not the one that's already reaching my nose.

"Yes mama." Both boys say quietly as Charlie walks in. I dressed casually, in familiar clothes he's seen me in often when I'm relaxing around the house. I wore my hair off in a braid so it wasn't obvious in how it lays with unnatural perfection now after the change.

"Hey kiddo. Wow. You look great." Charlie says softly while taking in my appearance, then gruffly clears his throat and shakes his head, clearly deciding against asking certain questions. "How are you? Feeling better?"
