A little over two months after my change, it was getting harder to put off Charlie. He kept asking me to dinner and saying I was working too hard with school and needed to come relax at his house with him. The phone calls and texts just weren't cutting it anymore, and he's going to figure it out soon I'm no in school. Oh, and that I'm not mortal anymore.
"I know we already planned to move, should we just move up the timeline?" I ask Ivar one night while we watch over the kids sleeping in their cribs. They look about one and half now, and are waddling their first steps and saying their first words, which were 'mama' immediately followed by 'dada' then 'Jay/Jas', each saying their godfather's name.
"You really want to move? Charlie did fine with Bella and Carlie, I see no harm in saying it was a wolf thing again. The legend idea you had worked well." Ivar says in surprise and we move towards our bedroom.
"I just feel... I don't know, selfish for wanting him to know. I always knew we would have to leave. Maybe we should just band aid it, ya know? Rip it all off, get the pain out of the way and move. I know how to handle it." I say with confidence, no matter how false that confidence actually is.
Ivar gets very quiet for a while, then we hear one of the boys wake up and call out for attention. "Let's think on this later, it is not urgent as of right now." He says smoothly, going to check on the twins.
~ Ivar POV ~
I know that my mate is strong, and probably right about moving away sooner rather than later. However, she has had to lose so many people that she loved over the years. If I can prevent even one more loss for her, I want to try anything I can to make it happen.
As I feed and put Cal back to bed, I contemplate my options. She has not yet been around humans, I do not know how her thirst will react. That should be my first step in my plan. After that... I may have to get creative.
"Love, today we are going to test how you do around humans." I tell her the next morning. "Jasper is taking Jay out to do this today as well, we just figured it would be easiest the first time separately. So, the best method I could think of will be a fun one for you." I smirk at her and lead her into the garage. "We are going to ride by the humans." I inform her, taking her to her bike.
"You mean I get to ride my precious again?" She gasps out excitedly, running over to the machine and gently caressing it. She hasn't been able to rise it since before our wedding, so she's been pouting often about it.
"What, not satisfied riding me anymore?" I tease her as she looks at the bike lovingly.
"Well if I wasn't afraid to break it, I would try to put the two actions together." She winks at me and shakes her butt in my direction. I growl, picturing her naked form on the bike. I shake my head to clear the distraction, reminding myself we have a goal for today.
"You minx." I growl at her with a smirk, loving the lust in her dark orange eyes as I grab her by the hips. The red is starting to lessen, but only slowly. "We would, unfortunately, likely break it. Stop putting ideas in my head." I kiss her nose gently before separating, putting some much needed distance between us while she pouts lightly. "Now, we are going to ride through a populated area, just down at the shopping mall here in town. We'll do one lap with helmets on and your breath held, a second with you breathing with the helmet on, which should filter much of the smell. Then a third lap with this other helmet on that has your mouth free." I hold up her old spare helmet. "I will wear it the first two laps, then we switch. You ready?" I ask, getting on the back of the bike and handing her the regular custom helmet she usually wears.
