Habiba's POV:

"What's going on here!"

I couldn't believe my eyes, was Mom kneeling before an unfamiliar lady's feet?

Quickly, I ran and lifted her from her kneeling position.

"Who are they?" I anxiously asked while scanning their unfamiliar faces.

"We are your in-laws." The lady dressed in an extravagant dress Mom was just kneeling before replied.

"What!"

How can they be my in-laws when I'm not yet married? How is it possible? These questions ran through my head faster than a jet.

"I'm sure you're surprised," The lady smiled eying me from head to toe.

"From the look on your face, it seems you are oblivious to the fact that you're a married woman." She adds.

"A... married what?" I Stuttered gazing at Mom to shut the woman up, to tell her It was a lie, but the look Mom kept right now, says it all.

"Mom this's a joke.... right?" I stuttered moving to her, I held her searching for answers in her eyes.

But her silence and tears confirmed the lady was right.

"She's lying? Mom!"

"We aren't lying, I'm your mother-in-law and the lady beside me is my daughter, your sister-in-law." The lady spoke.

"No!" I yelled.

"You're all liars," I screamed again.

"Habiba! Where are your manners, Habiba?" Mom finally spoke while cupping my face gently.

"They are your in-laws." She confirmed their words herself...

"I can't believe this!" I shook my head in disbelief, I needed to get away from this dream, and with that, I ran into my room slamming the door shut.

"Why didn't she ever mention it to me?" I cried feeling very angry.

"Habibti, please open the door." Mom knocked.

"Open up please, I know you're angry at the moment and it's okay to let out your feelings, but please don't lock me out." She pleads knocking hard on the wooden door.

Hearing Mom plead added to my pain, though I was angry at her for concealing such life-changing information, I couldn't let her plead this way so I opened up giving her a tight hug.

"Mom, please tell me it's a dream?" I asked pulling off from our embrace.

"Habiba calm down!" She cups my face trying to comfort me."

"I'm sorry for keeping this truth away from you, I was scared of your reaction, but anyways, you had to know someday." She sighed taking my hands into hers, she gave them light kisses.

"That means... I have a husband?" I gasped collapsing on the floor.

"Yes, My helplessness made me wed you off at a young age when you were just a year old." She burst into tears.

"one year?" I muttered.

"Your dad used to work as an accountant at your in-law's textile factory then, at that time, I was sick and dying, we needed 10 million for me to fly abroad for treatment, we asked for help from families and friends, and also sold almost everything we own, but unfortunately the money didn't count...

"With the fear that I wouldn't make it before the complete money is gained, your dad began to take money from the factory's account to return it, luckily, I got treated but your dad landed in prison for three months." She narrated further.
