Habiba's POV:
It was another day to face the harsh reality of life.
That not all you want life gives to you, not all your dreams and hopes actualizes, and not all your plans come to pass.
It's called destiny.
I was ready to put everything behind me and move on even though the memories still sting.
I had to get rid of anything that will further hurt me, especially my heart, it feels too fragile to keep on hurting it.
I was still exhausted, but I still managed to get out of bed in time.
On my way out, I almost bumped into Emma who is standing by the doorstep.
She had a frightened gaze once she saw me.
"Sorry ma, I Just... She struggled with her words maintaining a terrified look.
"Emma, I'm sorry for yelling at you last night, I was in a bad mood I didn't mean to."
"There's no problem ma, I understand." She smiled nervously.
"Thanks for understanding."
"It's fine, well do you care for breakfast?"
"Breakfast, right now?" I muttered at my wristwatch.
I was running out of time for school.
"I can package it for you if you're late."
"I think that will do, thanks."
"Let me get it ready," She replied while heading into the kitchen.
I found my way to the dining hall waiting for Emma to bring my food when mother-in-law joined me.
"Good morning." She says with a bright smile.
That smile, Nothing good comes after it.
"Morning ma" I muttered while rising to leave, she held my hand.
"Sit, we should talk, I need a favor from you."
"A favor?" I mumbled.
What favor can I possibly do for her? something was fishy.
"Do you have time to spare?" She asks with so much politeness and that got me feeling suspicious of her.
"I have lectures."
"And after that?"
"Nothing."
"Great! So what time are your lectures ending?"
"It depends on the lecturer, I don't know."
"Well, your lecturer can't keep you in school all day, right?"
"Yes."
"Well, Amina's dad would have joined me at the office for the official meeting but is away... She began to explain.
"I have something important to sort at the office, if you don't mind, can you escort me?"
"Me?" I uttered in surprise.
Why does she want me to go with her? Zaitun was more of a friend, so why me? I thought.
"I won't have disturbed you if Zaitun wasn't busy, but if you have a lot on your plate, it's fine, I will manage on my own." She sighed.
I wanted to refuse her but I couldn't, not after she sounded so polite.
"Once the lecture is over, I'll give you a call."
